The rain was vehement. It beats the ground without mercy. Angry thunder clapped loudly at the sky. The wind amplified it. I stood on the verandah of my class, along with my other classmates.

"Oh God, is 6pm already and the rain won't stop." Mollie cried.

"This rain doesn't look real, there's something mystical about it" Charles said.

As he said that my eyes drifted to the strange boy, standing alone at the corner.

Charles followed my gaze and he nudged me.

I pouted at him and he winked.

"Mollie, you've got an umbrella, it can take you home" Cassie said.

Mollie rolled her eyes and everyone laughed.

Mollie's umbrella was almost as delicate as a broom. Jake's umbrella was destroyed by the wind just as he turned it on. If his strong umbrella could be easily destroyed, then Mollie's own would be carried by the wind.

We all stood there and watched the angry rain as they met the floor and splattered.

Charles walked closer to me and whispered in my ear "You're probably thinking that he caused the rain."

"Who?" I asked, though I knew he meant the strange boy on black hoodies.

Charles tilted his head and looked at him.

I followed his eyes.

The guy was still as before, his eyes were fixed on the rain.

"He's been acting strange since he came" I stated.

He started schooling here last week.

And throughout the week, no one has heard his voice, no one knows his name and no one had an idea of where he lives.

It was 7pm now, everyone was still there. The rain was the heaviest I've seen. It wasn't something I could manage.

But somehow, I felt that I need to go home. I had to. My grandma is sick and I bet, Dad couldn't do the chores.

I turned to Charles, "I think, I'll have to manage the rain"

He raised his brows "Don't Tell me you're planning on going with this rain."

"I can't keep waiting for it to stop. We've been waiting for four hours now. Will you like to come with me?" I asked.

He shook his head "You know I'm allergic to rain"

"Okay, bye then" I tied my scarf on my head and made sure my backpack was wrapped with a waterproof.

Then, I entered the rain and....

There was a heavy thunderbolt.

It was so loud that everyone in the verandah clung to themselves. A sudden wind came and blew my scarf from my head.

Then the rain came with a force, six times greater than before.

Charles screamed something at me, and I rushed back to the verandah. My body dripping water.

"My good God! What just happened?" Molly asked looking at me.

I was too cold to answer.

"It seems the rain don't want anyone to leave" Jake said and they laughed.

I shuddered and fidgeted.

Charles gave me his sweater "Are you okay?" He asked.

I shook my head "No."

I felt the need to look at the strange boy.

When I looked at him, I noticed, he was also looking at me.

As soon as I noticed, he averted his eyes and started walking out of the verandah.

Immediately he left, the rain stopped.

I turned to Charles. We exchanged puzzled glances.

The other students were cheering as they rushed out.

"Come, let's go before the rain starts again" Charles pulled me along.

I wonder why no one else  noticed that there's a mystery about that boy.

A mystery which I must finds out. No matter what!
