MIA

Sitting by the poolside under the blanket of stars, the night air was cool and filled with the soft sounds of water lapping at the edges. Gabriel and I had found a quiet moment, a peaceful break from the chaos that seemed to constantly swirl around us. It was moments like these I cherished, where we could just be Mia and Gabriel, not Alpha and Luna or warriors in a never-ending battle.

"You know," Gabriel started, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between us, "I've missed this. Just talking. It feels like it's been forever since we've had a moment of peace."

I smiled, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. "Yeah, life's been a bit of a whirlwind, hasn't it?" The understatement of the century, really. Between battles, secrets, and heartaches, 'whirlwind' was putting it mildly.

He scooted closer, his arm brushing against mine, sending a familiar shiver down my spine. "I've missed you, Mia. More than I thought possible."
