4: Head-mistress

It's been days, no weeks, since Agnella's last encounter with Draven.

He didn't send for her after she collapsed in his arms that night, and she didn't ask for him either.

She stayed in her room-like-prison thinking about all he said that night.

About how her mother deceived and hid her. She couldn't help but think that Alpha Draven might have spilt some truth.

It was true that she had white hair, her mother could often dry her hair black when she noticed her hair returning to its original colour she would always ask her mother why she always did that, but her mother's only response was, “other kids have black hair, you need black hair to fit in.”

Agnella thought what her mother said to be true, she has never seen another with hair like hers, her hair was as white as snow, and it made her look different.

Entirely different from how she looked. Her hair was her beauty, but her mother could always dye it, even when her mother left on her little trip some months ago, she had Agnella promise to always dye her hair and never let anyone see her real hair.

Was this truly the reason? Did mom do all these deliberately? Agnella couldn't help but wonder.

No one knows about her white hair, so Agnella was able to think about Draven's words.

It was also true that she had lived in hiding for long.

Her mother moved to different locations with her on different occasions, and Agnella never understood the reason.

Was this truly the reason, mama? Is there a truth in whatever that man said?

Agnella breathed out and stood up as she caught a white strand in her hair through the mirror.

She walked to the mirror and stood in front of it as she stared at her hair.

The black colour was washing off, with one more wash the black could be completely gone.

I need a dye, Agnella thought and turned towards the door, but something came to her mind.

Would they agree to give me a dye for my hair? Draven might not agree to this request, since he seems to know my origin.

With a huff, Agnella walked to the bed and waited. It was almost time for lunch to be served.

The maids|servants always come in with lunch at 1:30 pm.

It was 1:28 pm currently. Once it was 1:30 pm, the door opened and two maids walked in with covered dishes.

They placed it on her bed as usual, and as they were arranging it, the door flung open and someone came in.

A she-wolf with a golden brown hair. She looked fierce or maybe angry.

Once the maids saw her, they went on their knees.

The lady walked to Agnella and stood before her, glaring down at her.

“Who are you and why did you barge in like that?” Agnella questioned, surprised by her entrance.

“The two of you should leave us, and also step away from the door. Do not come close.” The brown hair lady ordered, and the two maids scurried away.

Once she heard the door close, she took a step closer to Agnella, then she took her eyes to the dishes placed in front of her.

“So you eat, you do know how to eat.” The brown hair said.

Agnella rose, “I asked who you are, lady-” she couldn't complete her sentence because of the sudden pull in her hair.

Agnella cussed as she felt her scalp burning due to the strong pull.

“My name is Balia, the first she-wolf appointed to be with his highness prince Draven Talon Yandel. I am responsible for his well-being, understood?” Balia pulled harder, not giving Agnella a chance to get a hold of her.

Agnella struggled effortlessly to get away, but she was no match for a she-wolf like Balia. Balia is a born Beta wolf, which is stronger than most she—wolves.

“Now sit!” Balia forced her to sit on the bed, she picked up one of the dishes, the exact one with the sauce, and wasted it on Agnella's face.

Agnella screamed as she felt her eyes and face burning, but she couldn't scream out for long as Balia gagged her mouth.

“Shut the fûck up and listen to me,” Balia groaned as she held Agnella down.

“You. A half wolf. A half human do not belong here. I want you to give the prince the kids he wants from you and then disappear from his life forever.

Agree to his suggestion when next he calls you. You must agree to it or else…” Balia forced her hand into Agnella's mouth, choking her.

“I'll destroy you.” She whispered before finally letting go of Agnella.

Agnella coughed and rose blindly, she was not seeing clearly she needed water to wash her burning eyes.

“Stay down until I leave.” Balia ordered before stepping out of the room.

She found the two maids she sent out standing a few steps away from the door.

She breathed in and out before turning on her heels and leaving.

One of the maids signalled the other one to go meet Agnella, while she turned and left for Draven's office.

She got to his office to meet Vigo, his Beta, and underboss, standing at the door.

“Sir… I need to deliver a message,” the maid announced.

“What message do you bring? The big boss can't be disturbed now, he gave an order.”

“It's about the head - mistress, Balia. Head—mistress Balia visited the human lady, big boss asked us to watch over, and I do not think things went smoothly.” The maid reported.

“Head—mistress?” Vigo asked.

“Yes, sir-"'the maid bowed in response.

As Vigo deliberated on the matter, Draven's office door opened.

“Let her come in,” Vigo heard Draven's command and immediately stepped out for her to get in.

“What did you say happened?” Draven asked, his eyes fixed on a particular picture that hung on the wall.

“I said head—mistress Balia visited the human lady you asked us to watch over, we heard the lady scream out while Balia was in there with her.” The maid reported.

A minute passed and Draven didn't utter a word.

“Vigo!” Draven suddenly called and Vigo rushed in.

“Boss.”

“Make sure Balia is dragged here, I'll need her to explain what exactly she discussed with Agnella.”
