Chapter Eight

CHAPTER EIGHT

There was something that I didn’t seem to understand. Tyler’s appearance made my friends to pull away from me without a backward glance, and that was slightly creepy. I couldn’t get why they would leave.

I looked at Bethany, in hope to bring her attention to me, but she was looking away from me, and talking animatedly to Lily. It was mildly off-putting and I had to look back at Tyler to ease off the panic I felt. He was still looking at me with an unreadable intensity.

“Hi,” I said softly.

He leaned on the wall. “Hi.”

No words passed between us, as we looked at each other. His hands lightly touched my bag, trailing it with his fingers, with his eyes fixed on my face.

“I see, you’ve settled in nicely,” he said softly.

His words seemed to have some double meaning that I couldn’t quite grasp. My cheeks warmed as I looked up at him. He was so calm, and I couldn’t help but note the way the muscles under his arms moved as his fingers trailed my b
