Chapter 2

Kinsley was told that his parents had died when he was very little. Since then, he had been in the care of omegas in his pack. He grew up as a lonely kid. He belonged in the pack, a family, but somehow he just never felt secure and home here. If only his parents were still alive...

No matter. He had Kelvin. He's the only one Kinsley considered a friend. He's the alpha's son but he's never treated Kinsley lower than his rank which is a son to a warrior. Kinsley felt happy just by knowing his friend was there for him when he needed him. A friend to share stories. Someone I could ask for help regarding school when it's necessary.

Kelvin is turning eighteen at the beginning of the year and he'll find his mate. Kinsley knew his friend’s life would be all about that person so somehow he was feeling sad over it. It was like losing a very dear brother to his future wife.

Kelvin is going to be the alpha but he told Kinsley he didn't want it. He's had fights with his father about it. It made the pack nervous because their life depended on their leader. Alpha Kristoff is still very capable of leading the pack, in his opinion. But there are rumors how he's a little insane because he lost his wife, their Luna, a few years back.

At a younger age, Kinsley learned that a werewolf could go mad crazy or even die of heartache if he or she loses his mate. Their alpha has been very strong. Word has it that he's part vampire. “Can’t be,” was what Kinsley thought. Don't they see? The Alpha ages. Vampires don’t. And besides, vampires stay out of their way. Like witches do. There is just too much at stake if any two of these kinds cross paths.

Since he grew up with the omegas, some kid Kinsley’s age would pick on him, always regarding him as inferior to them. During young wolves' meetings, they would verbally tease him. But in school, they would go above and beyond in humiliating him. Physically, they challenge and fight with him. He could only take the beatings while controlling his wolf from surfacing and thrashing about.

He goes to a school where humans go as well. And it makes him hesitate fighting back. Because if he had to, he needed to tap into his inner wolf which doesn't end up well.

Asher, his wolf can be very stubborn. He's pushed him to his limits when he trains alone. Kinsley can feel his incredible agility, the pride of his pack as a matter of fact. He does display it during trainings but he holds back. Until Ivan, the future lead warrior brought out his inner strength.

It was a good match and Kinsley hoped it didn't make his bullies challenge him even more. But boy was he wrong.

One day, he had gone to the monkey pod forest at the edge of the pack's territory where he usually trains alone in his wolf form when he was ambushed by four members from the pack. They were snickering as they blocked his way. Kinsley hadn't shifted yet and so were they.

"Going for another... alone time, deafie?" The tallest of them scoffed. He's the son of our current beta and friends with Kelvin's brother.

"Let me through," Kinsley said, his eyes not backing out from being stared down. His bullies all laughed mockingly at him as he balled his fists.

"Told ya he will try to fight back," the shortest one of them all commented. "Whatcha gonna do, Lone Princess?"

They all broke into a fit of laughter. Kinsley felt irritated every time they called him names, inappropriate and sometimes degrading ones. But he did not let it get to him. He did not want to stoop into their level of childishness.

Kinsley made another attempt to pass through as the four of them exchanged more insults for him. With his speed, he finally managed to slip through. Without bothering to take his clothes off, he shifted into his wolf form and ran at full speed, weaving his way around the trees until he reached his intended destination.

He skidded to an abrupt stop and let his paws feel the ground under him. Closing his eyes, he sniffed around and scanned the area if anyone was there. And so far, and as usual, he was alone.

The rain trees were scattered around and he would often use them as his training partners. For inanimate objects they made good company while he ran around them, changing his patterns as he went along. He would jump on their barks to make high jumps and the taller the tree, the bigger his obstacle was.

In there, he felt more relaxed and he could train as much as he wanted. As much as he needed. There was also a small stream not far from there. It was his own little spot for bathing. And it didn’t dry up even in summer. It was perfect.

Kinsley hoped that one day when he finds his mate; he would definitely show them this secret place. And he wished he or she would accept his disability. That was a hard wish to ask but hope stayed in his heart.

After he ran around all the trees for the tenth time, he stood still under one of them, panting as he was heavily exhausted.

Meanwhile, back at the pack house, Skylar heard a muffled squabble on the eastern side. He was on his way to his training with his father's warriors. He got curious then he saw the annoying Kinsley getting picked on by one of his friends and three others his age.

Punch one of them, you fool. Skylar did not get why he would be saying that. He's all 'ingenious' and 'fast' during his training with Ivan. But look at him when faced with real threat. Just standing there balling his fists and not actually putting his skills into action. That's dumb.

The next thing Kinsley did however,  surprised Skylar. The four musketeers he called them, were also too shocked to run after the pale boy. Skylar saw Kinsley shift while running, leaving his clothes in tatters on his way.

Skylar shook hs head

“Skylar. You're coming to the training or what?” He heard his father say through the pack link.

“On my way.”

As sons of the alpha of Silver pack, Skylar and his older brother Kelvin have been training with the strongest warriors ever since they had their primal shift.

“You're distracted today,” his father told him after a few sets of sparring with him. His father’s wolf, Kaleb, a mix of black and copper, towered over his. He's got him pinned down on the ground three times in five sets. The rest were a draw.

“If you're thinking of something or someone, block it off while on training. You know the drill.”

The Alpha’s order came with a growl. Skylar in his wolf form stood up instantly and shook his head, whisking dirt off his fur. He had left his link open for the pack which allowed him to connect with everyone if he had to. What was I waiting to hear?

Skylar eventually followed his father's orders and until late in the evening, he trained with him. Right after the training, he went straight to his room to wash up and then joined dinner at the dining hall. It would get pretty rowdy down there sometimes. Most of his pack members didn't live in the pack house. They're scattered throughout their territories in their own houses. They also have another pack living under our roof. The White Moon.

White Moon Pack’s future alpha is three years younger than him. His pack was raided and almost completely wiped out when he turned twelve and since then, Skylar’s father had taken them in.

Soon as he reached the doorway to the dining hall, Skylar’s eyes scanned the large room, not looking for anyone in particular. It just became a habit.

“He's not here.” Skylar felt his wolf, Kylo, roll his eyes on him while growling low and highly irritated.

“I wasn't looking for that deaf,” Skylar retorted.

“Did I say who it was?” Kylo sniggered on him then curled up for a nap.

Skylar somehow didn’t get along well with his wolf most of the time. He thought werewolves were in sync with their wolves but apparently that did not apply to him. Kylo is a gentle and kind wolf if he wants to be, totally opposite of Skylar. An alpha doesn't need to be gentle nor kind at all times. Skylar told his wolf that. The latter disagreed with him.

The young Rigodon was greeted as he approached his seat next to his father. He tried to block the growing murmurs in the room but to his disappointment, the kids in his pack were just very noisy.

Like always, Skylar ate without bothering a chat with anyone. He deemed it too troublesome. After his meal, he headed back to his room. On his way, he couldn't help but be curious of the conversation he overheard from one of the rooms.

He passed through the hallway leading to the living quarters of the White Wolf pack. It was located on a separate wing of the pack house. A long hallway led to it towards the back

"Thanks for the food. It's very nice of you to help me with his leg and bring me dinner at the same time. But I really should get back to the omegas' quarters."

Thevoice sounded familiar.

"But you're not fully healed yet. Kelvin asked me to watch over you while he's away for alpha school. Why did you let them gang up on you anyway? You're fast aren't you?"

“What is this deaf doing inside the private room White Moon's future alpha?” Skylar muttered. Kylo growled, took over and violently opened the door to Chester's room.

"Skylar!" Chester, the fourteen year old future leader of White Moon was surprised to see the younger son of Alpha Kristoff enter the room without knocking. Skylar’s eyes were zoomed in on the other person seated on Chester’s bed.

A huge bandage was wrapped around Kinsley’s calf. He not only was unable to access the pack link, could not heal as fast as the others in his pack.

Skylar’s wolf growled seeing Kinsley’s broken leg and he knew the injury happened between the times he saw him escape his bullies and the current time. Skylar had to force Kylo to calm down.

"Why is your left leg broken?!" Skylar hissed at the boy a year younger than him.

Kinsley bit his lower lip and bowed his head, not meeting his eyes. "R-Running. I'll be fine once I rested it for the night."

“Lies,” Kylo whined. “He obviously got picked on again!”

Skylar huffed in irritation between keeping his wolf at bay and watching the pitiful sight of Kinsley in front of him. He shot a glare at Chester’s way before he turned to leave the room. "Next time, don't cause any more trouble than you already have, Kinsley,” he said then slammed the door shut behind him, ignoring his wolf's nagging behind his head.
