Chapter Three

* Emma *

My brother uses a private jet in travelling his way to London that is why he was here fast enough to see me. As I stood in front of the white aircraft I couldn't help but gasp and be filled with awe. The last time I flew with this bird is when I left Langston land to rebel against my father. It brought back few undesirable memories.

The pilot stand at the end of the stairs waving his hands towards us, beside him stood two beautiful ladies in uniform.

"Come on Ems, go up and let me take care of the luggage."

I move my feet slowly, hearing his conversation with my two bodyguards who would take care of sending off the rest of my belongings including the Mercedes back to my homeland. As I took the stairs and begin to take careful steps, I feel the eyes of the crew looking at me with every step it must be my graceful walk as a model.

This jet belongs to the Alpha King, but my father uses this aircraft more often to do business outside the Langston lands in favor of him and he can use it anytime as long as none of the Langston family members is flying.

"Welcome aboard Miss Emma Bates!"

The pilot greets me together with two of his crew. "Thank you, everyone."

They help me carry out the hand luggage and my personal things above the compartment. I sat in the comfort of a soft leather seat with the luxury of a small built in table and the mini television. The crystal clear window shows the view outside the private jet. After a few minutes my brother came in to sit at the opposite side of my chair. I can feel his gaze on me as I pretend to observe the scenery outside the window.

The private jet could accommodate six passengers but today there is only me and my brother who's flying back to the Langston lands. After a while the pilot announce the plane ready for departure. We have six hours straight flight all the way into the private airport owned by the Great Alpha King.

"Are you alright Ems?"

My brother's voice sounded a little sympathetic and I stop looking outside to meet his gaze. "I am, don't worry about me. I am thinking about Dad and his condition, I almost forgot how old he is, I was thinking that he is not going to get older than he already is. It's so silly of me to think of it that way."

He sighed. "You know that there might be no coming back anymore. After you take over some of the family businesses, father would be relying on you and Brad since our mother will never do the work in the office."

Our father is an old wolf, being old means centuries old. He is one of the Royal pack elders, A friend of the Great wizard Maleficus and the grandfather of the current Alpha King. My family belongs to the Royal bloodline in the Royal pack that if the blood of the Langston diminish, which is far from happening, our bloodline would take over as the leader of the pack. For sure, one of my brothers will be a great candidate as the Alpha.

"I am going to miss the limelight and the crowd of London, but I guess I will be alright."

I softly whispered more to myself than him but I know he heard it all clearly.

"Mother and Robert will be at the airport waiting for our arrival when we reach the Langston lands. There are so many changes in town Ems, you should give our place a chance and the Royal pack have improved a lot over the years."

He is able to change the topic when we felt the plane finally going higher above the sky. Our seatbelt sign is on until we reach the height where flight takes a normal form. The stewards offered us food and beverages which I declined since I don't feel hungry. I saw my brother smiled towards them and took himself a glass of whiskey. My eyes returned towards the window where I could see the white puffy like clouds floating beside us.

I close my eyes and thought about our family and the big house we have on top of a hill. We only leave a few kilometres away from the Langston palace. It is more often that my family would go and visit the Alpha King and his family. I opened my eyes and let out a heavy sigh.

"Get some sleep Ems, I will wake you up when we arrive."

It's like following his command. My eyes automatically close and I succumb to the call of sleep as I felt the exhaustion of my brain from overthinking on my father's condition and the business that I have to handle. I don't remember for how long I have slept during the flight but my body rested so well that when I heard my brother's voice again, it is to inform me that we have already landed on the Langston's private airport.

"We are here Ems, you can wake up now sleepyhead."

There was a bit of amusement on my brother's voice when I opened my eyes and saw him towering beside me.

"Oh, I didn't mean to sleep the whole way."

"It is alright Ems, sleep will give you enough courage to see our father and hear from him his plan for your future."

I groaned disapproving the words he said. He just reminded me how my father manipulates our family most of the time. My brothers are more obedient towards him than I am, I guess if he is not ill then my brother would not have taken me back this easily.

"Thank you for flying with us Miss Bates, Mr. Bates."

The cheerful greetings of the stewards and the pilot made me aware of the reality that I am now back to my homeland. "After you Ems."

Dylan made me walk out of the plane first, the familiar scent in the air and the view of the small Langston airport reminded me of everything in this lands. My birthplace is just a few kilometres away, my childhood friends and the wolves of the Royal pack.

"Emma! Oh my baby you are finally back home!"

I slowly turned my head towards the familiar sweet voice coming from my mother when I took the final step off the jet's stairs. "Mom?"

She run towards me and opened her arms wide to give me a tight embrace. "We were so worried about you Emma, it's been years honey. How have you been? You look too skinny, have you not hunt and eat in London?"

Her voice sounded worried as I look in her face and noticed a few wrinkles. We are supposed to aged slow but my mother must be so worried with my dad that she is getting older like he is. I look behind her and saw my brother Robert, the oldest son of the family. Beside him is the skinny old man in a wheelchair then it took me a few seconds to realize, he is my father!

"Dad? Oh, what happened Daddy?"

I immediately excused myself from my mother's arms and bent down to my knees to see my father at eye level. His hair are all grey and his face wrinkled as his eyes surveyed me, he let out a slow smile.

"Emma, I thought you wouldn't come back."

He let out his arms to hug me and I engulf myself on his embrace. A slow and painful sob came out of my throat as guilt and regret consume me.

"I'm so sorry Dad, I shouldn't have left If I knew you would get sick and live like this."

"Oh, don't cry now sweetheart. Please, I would still live a longer life I would wait until I see my grand children from you and Dylan."

My oldest brother Robert is the one to first get married as soon as he found his mate in the Royal pack. "Welcome back Ems."

He taps me on the shoulders and I let go of my father for a while and give him a brief hug before looking 4 years back into the face of my brother. "What is this sickness that tied you on a wheelchair Dad? I thought your friend Maleficus has all the cure to any kind of sickness in this pack and what are the pack doctors been doing in the palace?"

I asked worriedly which earned a chuckle on my father. Robert is the one who opened his mouth to give me an answer. "Our father is not sick Ems, he is physically well but his strength is lowering due to the length of time that he'd spent living. His wolf is already weak and won't be able to shift after the full wolf moon."
