Chapter 5

“What do you think you are doing?” His cold stern voice uttered as he threw a glance at me.

“I…I, she disrespected me!” The Luna threw her hands into the air. His cute little lips pushed out in irritation and his blue eyes hazed in anger.

“I will make this clear for the last time, no one has the right to lay a finger on her. No one!”

Tilda’s lips paled and the Luna’s hand quivered in anger. My brows arched in surprise.

“You-you choose a common slave over your mother?” She stuttered.

I think I’m beginning to like this.

“Get her out,” Dominic ordered a guard.

The bars were flung open and I slowly shuffled out of the cell, wincing dramatically.

“Thank you,” I said, dusting my dress.

“Your mom and mate are so mean,” I leaned closer to his ear and whispered.

“Shut up and get back to your room,” he snapped at me, swerved around, and ambled away.

Wait, what?

He snapped at me! I thought we just became friends.

How dare he snap at me, a Summa Claude Laude degree holder in the university of… damn, I left my certificate.

“You’ll hear from me,” the Luna scowled at me and flounced off.

“Your stay here won’t be so easy peasy,” Tilda added and trudged after her mistress.

Pet.

I staggered up to a flight of stairs and started ascending. I don’t know the way to my room, no one bothered to point it out to me.

I know I was getting lost, but what should I do? I’ll loiter around till I find a maid that will lead me back to my room.

I realized I was wrong when I kept walking across flights of stairs and corridors. There was practically no one in sight to help me out of the current mess I was in.

“Hey, can you come over and take me to my room?” I muttered to darkness looming ahead in the corridor I was in. It was the third corridor I had passed.

“Will he hear me?” I whispered.

The first question was for Dominic, I wonder if he heard me, or does he only read thoughts.

“Try thinking Debbie, start thinking,” I slammed my eyes shut but couldn’t focus on my situation. I groaned in frustration when his beautiful face appeared and reappeared in my head. I visualized touching his naked chest and abs and my eyes snapped open.

“Shit, why can’t I concentrate?” I muttered in frustration and kept walking.

I wanted to turn around but the dread of encountering those flights of stairs again propelled me to keep going forward.

Voices filtered into my ear as I approached the end of the dark eerie corridor. I quickened my steps.

Rays of light sneaked into the corridor, I sighed thankfully and reached for a large door.

I entered without knocking, besides, the door was left ajar on my arrival.

The first thing my eyes caught was Dominic, he was standing beside a throne, his hands wrapped around his slim waist.

Oh God, I finally found him.

“Hey Dominic, you left me stranded,” I said and walked fully into his room. My feet stopped working when my eyes scanned the other people in the room, whom I failed to notice from the entrance.

Dominic ducked his head in my direction and his lips paled in embarrassment.

The people in the room gapped at me in shock. I wondered why they were looking at me like that.

Even Dominic had a stunned expression smeared across his face.

“Did she call the Alpha by his name?” one of the spectators muttered.

Oh, shit!

My hands grew wet as I goggled at Dominic batting my lashes childishly. I looked like a child who was caught stealing sugar.

“Uhm…ahh...uhh,” I stuttered, the guilt heaved on me wouldn’t let me look at their faces or his own.

“Excuse me,” I heard him say to the assembly.

My chest threatened to explode as his feet shuffled towards me.

A strong steely hand gripped mine and began pulling me away from the room of toxicology. I didn’t protest or raise my eyes to look at him until we were a safe distance away from the room.

When I raised my head I couldn’t see his face because of the darkness in the corridor. But I can tell that he’s really upset with me.

“I never knew you were respected this much,” I said, trying to push off the turmoil between us.

“Be quiet!” he groaned.

I rolled my eyes contemptuously at his unseen back.

We eventually left the dark side of the castle and I was able to see his face.

His face was stern yet beautiful, his wet pursed lips tempted me to lean forward and smash mine on it.

He snapped his head back immediately the thought formed in my head.

“I won’t do it,” I blurted.

“I never asked you,” he muttered, rolling his eyes.

“Can you stop reading my thoughts, you are abusing my privacy.”

He didn’t respond till we got to my dreaded fear. Those long slippery stairs can break your spinal cord if you are not careful enough to watch your steps. He noticed my hesitation to descend the stairs and turned.

“What?”

“If I place a foot on this staircase then I’m gone,” I replied. He raised his brows in confusion.

“Gone to where?”

“Heaven.”

His lips turned up in disgust as he swept me into his arms. He shot a scowl at me before descending the stairs.

“Do you believe in Heaven?” I muffled against his chest.

He didn’t answer.

“You should try to be nice, I’m just getting to know you and I’m not leaving anytime soon either,” I stated.

“Even when you are planning to run away?” he replied.

“Wait, what?” I raised my head to look at his face.

“Even if you manage to escape, which you cannot, you can never hide from me. I will search the highest heavens and reach the farthest part of the world till I get my hands on you.”
