Day of Reckoning

Sigmund's POV

I wake up, rested and ready to take on this evil pack. There is a new scent in the air, since yesterday. Today is exactly eighteen years since I left. This scent was not there when I was here last. I look at the others in the pack and they are all getting ready for the fight.

And it will be a fight for sure. There will be no turning back once we get into their territory. I won't back down and I won't give up. Those women will be freed and I won't let them down. They may be angry at me for having waited so long, but I just couldn't get here a minute earlier.

There's that scent again, this time it's getting farther away from the old pack's territory, very fast. It smells like chocolate and honey, wrapped in one. I keep sniffing the air until the scent goes away. I can track it down later. For some reason, I feel like it is important to do so. But right now I need to get this pack underground. That's all the men of this pack deserve, to be buried.

It takes the crew a few minutes to round up and make a plan. With the others that are surrounding the land, we use walkies. It takes us less than ten minutes to get a plan ready. Once we have it set in stone, we head in, no hesitation. The first male I see on sight can't be more than eight years old.

For some reason, I feel like I should leave him be. He is too young to have been brainwashed by this pack. I walk past him and right into a man who has evil written in his eyes. I shift, instantly, tearing my clothes as I lunge at his unshifted form. The result is instant. He is dead and his throat is in my mouth. I spit it out. He isn't worth eating.

As I look down at his body the little boy runs to him, looks down at him and says, "Daddy?"

I stay in my shifted form. This boy will run to his mom next. I will count on it. In the meantime, we need to kill off all these men. Each and every one of them smell like abuse, pure unfiltered abuse. I watch as the crew do the same to then men scattered around the place.

Seeing that they have the perimiter covered, I run towards the pack house. I know right where my uncle, the sitting Alpha will be. I bite the throats out of any man who dares to cross my path in an effort to stop me. Standing at the entry way to the pack house, I smell him. But I also smell faint traces of the other scent, the one I walked past on the way in.

I will have to look into this too. But first... I shift back to my man form, running inside the building stark naked and straight for my uncle. I will never forget the stench of him. I will never escape it, as long as he is alive.

I stop outside the Alpha's office door. He is in there; I can smell him. I kick open the door and he stands there, clothes disheveled and smelling of the chocolate and honey I smelled earlier.

"Oh, come back to claim your title?"

He looks done with it all, like he won't put up a fight, but I know better. This sneeky man will have someone stashed away in the office bathroom or something to do his fighting for him.

"I have come to kill off the scum you've been hanging out with, as well as yourself. I won't lead a pack filled with abusers and dirty old men."

He growls, starting his shift. The way he is groaning as he shifts has me laughing as I too shift in half the time. When he is done shifting I am already on him, my maw around his neck and his throat already tore open. This man is done torturing the people of this pack. The people here no longer have to be afraid.

As soon as I drop him, I feel a sudden urge to take off into the woods.

Sophia's POV

I don't know how long I'm running for, but I hear a lot of howling and screaming back at the pack territory. I don't know what could possibly be causing all the ruckus. I know it's not me being gone. Suddenly, I get the urge to run back. I find myself shifting, and damn does it hurt. I've never shifted before in my life, but I just did, out of nowhere.

I look at my pretty while paws and run, using all four legs to propel me back towards my mom. I need to be sure she's safe. What if we are under attack? What if my mom is hurt? I can't just keep running. I need to go back to them.

I find myself running until I smell something, a deep ceader smell. Not like the trees around me, but like an air freshener. This has me stopping in my tracks as I try to find the scent. It doesn't take long, as the scent is running right towards me.

He is a very handsome looking wolf. I love the way the sun shines on his coat. When he sees me, he stops and sits on his haunches, sniffing the air. He can smell me too. He came out here to find me, didn't he?

As though he can hear my thoughts, he nods, then starts walking towards me. Suddenly a thought plays in my head. You are mine.

I look around, not sure where that thought came from. Within seconds the other wolf is next to me, shifting back to his naked man self. He looks even hotter as a man. His dark hair frames his face and his the shape his body is in tells me he works out a lot.

When my eyes make their way down to his cock I know what he meant saying that in my head. I stand up and shift back, not even sure how I'm doing it. I go to cover myself, but he just chuckles. "Don't tell me this is your first shift, pretty one."

I swallow hard as I cover myself a bit. "It is, actually. I just turned eighteen."

His eyes widen as he looks around us. He sniffs the air as he sighs. "Well, the moon works in mysterious ways, I guess." He meets my eyes and it's like a lightbulb goes off in his head. "I think I saw your mom when she was about to give birth to you, the night I left, eighteen years ago."

This time it's my turn to talk, I don't want to only listen to him or answer his questions. "I uh, have no idea how I shifted, but my clothes are long gone. I don't want to stand here naked in front of you and keep talking."

He starts looking around the woods, and finds a bag, it's sitting by a tree. It looks like there was a camp of some sort over here. He hands me a long coat and smiles when I am completely clothed. "It won't matter much, uhh, we are mates... Sophia."

"How'd you know my name? I didn't tell you it."

"You did in your mind. I, as an alpha and your mate, can hear your thoughts. You will get the hang of it soon enough, Sophia."

I swallow hard as I try not to think, but my brain doesn't want to shut off. All the thoughts plague me and he seems to see every one of them. He just takes it in waiting for me to calm down. Finally, when my brain decides to shut off, I look at him and say, "I uh, have never been with a man."

He looks at me and smiles. "Oh, I've never been with anyone either. I wanted to wait for a fated bond and a willing woman. I've got one part of the equation, now I just need to know when you're ready." He puts his hand out for me to hold. "Until then, why don't we go find this mother and brother you seem so worried about."

I take a deep breath and let him lead me back to the camp. "So, what are you doing here?"

"I and my pack killed off every bad and abusive man on the property. You and the other women are completely free."

I stop and cover my mouth with my hand. "You killed my dad? He was out with my little brother this morning."

He smiles at me and nods. "Yeah, your brother saw it. He seemed kind of relieved. But I didn't stick around long. I had bigger fish to fry, like the Alpha, now ex Alpha. I am back here to lead us in a much larger and happier pack."

I take a look around me. "So how large are we talking? Are we trespassing on anyone's property now?"

He shakes his head slowly. "Nope, the whole woods is to be divided between a few good packs, including mine, The Sundown Pack."

I like the sound of that, for some reason it sounds like just the pack to join. "I think I will like being a part of that pack."
