I have no memory of my mother. She died giving birth to me. But I have every memory of my father from way back as I can remember. Every punch, every kick and every whipping. He's the Alpha of our pack. He's big and strong and for the last 15 years he's been treating me like it was my fault she died. He's made sure to point it out on every single occasion as well. He's made damn sure that I know exactly how he feels about me. It was my fault that she died. I am a curse. I should have been the one that died. Not her. Not his precious Luna and mate. The love of his life. The other half of his soul. She was so special that for me to take her away from him means that I am nothing but a bad omen. One that needs to be put in her place at every turn. He has since taken another mate. A chosen mate. Not a fated or a second chance mate because an Alpha is stronger with a mate. I've heard rumours that Father was ready to give up after my mother died but his Beta and best friend got him out of it
The second I heard my father's voice booming down the hallway my heartbeat started pounding like it was about to come out of my chest. I started to feel dizzy from the panic I was going into. "There's someone locked on the other side of this door." The man says. "Oh. She's no one to worry about. An omega. She just cleans the packhouse." Luna says. "Well, I would like to meet her." The man says. "That's not possible I'm afraid. She's not a good girl. She's rather disturbed and needs to be kept away from people." Father says. And I sat on the stairs on the other side of the door listening to the whole thing unfold. I can't say that I was surprised to hear them speak about me like that, but I felt rather upset and depressed hearing it out loud. Knowing that it's not true. Is that what they tell everyone? Well, that's unfortunate." He says. "Come on Alpha Connor. You're missing the whole party that we're throwing in your honour of being here." Luna says. Then I heard them slowly wal
"You know, it doesn't matter. I have to get back to training." Alpha Connor says standing directly in front of the door with his entire body and the door knob stopped moving. I could see his shadow under the door and he was stopping Luna from opening it. "Alright then, my husband is looking everywhere for you." She says. When I hear their footsteps recede out of the bedroom and I lean back against the door and let out a sigh of relief. I managed to get everything done and just before I was about to leave Alpha Connor's room I looked out the window and saw that they were all out in the training field on the south side of the packhouse. Alpha Connor had to be the one giving out the orders and he was showing our pack warriors different techniques to use in battle. And his warriors were helping our warriors while doing it. The first thing I noticed about the Protectors was that they were so much bigger than our warriors. I couldn't helop but wonder why that was. Why were they so much
ALPHA CONNOR POV Being the Alpha of a pack is a huge responsibility. Even for me. I am 25 years old and started this pack from nothing. We are the Protectors, a pack of warriors. Some of our members have chosen each other as mates and have started families. But I can't do that. I know that an Alpha is meant to be stronger with a Luna, but I wasn't going to just choose a mate because people expected me too. I wasn't holding out hope of finding my mate, but I wasn't going to just take any women to be the Luna of the pack that I built either. As a pack of warriors, we have become so good at what we do that we are invited to help other packs train to protect their packs. It's an honor that we got that reputation. This time we are headed off to a pack called the Diamond Pack, headed by William and Sophia Jameson. I didn't know how long this job was going to take. Or how bad their warriors were. They are starting the night off with a black tie event which none of us are used to. We don't
ALPHA CONNOR POV The following morning I woke up to the best smell in the world. The smell of a huge big breakfast that had been made for us and I couldn't wait to get dressed and head downstairs. I was about to head towards the kitchen when Miles came into the room and grabbed me around the shoulder. He also got himself a coffee and we went and sat next to the window as we saw other people start coming into the room. "Alright. I did see the Alpha go upstairs to the attic last night. He locked the door behind him so I couldn't follow but he had something weird in his hand. I couldn't make it out. It almost looked like a silver chain." Miles says, scrunching his eyebrows together. "It would have been burning his skin." I say not believing that it was silver. "Not if he was wearing gloves. Which he was. I listened the best that I could. I heard him yelling at someone but I didn't hear anyone else up there. If there is someone up there that he was beating, they kept quiet through
I felt Miles grab Aurora’s hand and her pull away from myself and her Alpha William. Alpha William was already in the middle of shifting and I jumped to the side when he lunged at the top of my body and finished the shift into his huge grey wolf before he landed on the ground. I stood there watching him completely unfazed, with a smirk on my face, finding it amusing at how he was crouching down growling at me, ready to attack. And the more that I smirked at him, the more he seemed to get pissed off with me. Which only amused me more. I might have been a little cocky right now, but I was fighting for something more than he was, I was fighting for the love of my life. He was just fighting for a slave, but I was fighting for my mate! I don’t think that had registered to him yet. So I stood back and started sprouting black fur on my arms and legs, not changing the look on my face, or losing eye contact with Alpha William as my bones started breaking and rearranging. I made a point of l
AURORA’S POV I could tell that Alpha Connor was nervous. His heart started racing a little and it scared me when he started doing that. Why was he nervous? Where was he taking me? And then I felt my own heart starting to race. And he looked over at me with wide eyes, like he was afraid of something. “Oh, it’s a couple of hours. We stay pretty hidden. I need to tell you that it’s nothing like your old pack. It’s not as extravagant as the packhouse that you are used to.” He explained. I could hear his heart rate racing still. Is that was he was nervous about? Was he worried that I would hate living in a smaller house or something? That made no sense to me. “Less for me to clean.” I say plainly. He looked at me strangely and I couldn’t really understand what that look meant. I don’t know what he was thinking right now. I just told the truth. I wouldn’t be cleaning as much. I know that my father’s mate doesn’t do any cooking or cleaning, but that’s because they had me. And that’s what
Alpha Connor was swurving all over the road, trying to get the werewolf off of the roof of the car but he wasn’t having much luck. I saw it’s paws coming down beside the car, swinging at us and it finally smashed the window right beside me. The paw was coming inside the door trying to grab a hold of me but I undid my seatbelt to get further away from it and Alpha Connor reached over and grabbed a hold of me and helped me get into the backseat. I had more room back there and I stayed on the floor like he directed me too. Alpha Connor’s claws then extended from his fingers and he swiped at the paw inside my window and he took a big lot of flesh out of the other wolf. It yelped and pulled it’s paw out of the car, but it didn’t get off of the car. He was still swurving and trying to get the wolf off and away from us but that wasn’t working. So he slammed on the brakes and the wolf that was on top of the car, flew off the front of it and started rolling along the road. “Stay here.”
