Chapter 2

No answers were given.

He didn't show up. His parents didn't show up.

My parents knew something was up because the Luna and Alpha are always there at a shifting. It was 11:59 pm and I was sobbing on the hill behind my house. I sent everyone away except for Jessica and my parents.

The pack doctor trying to get me to calm down. My heart felt like it was ripping in half.

What did I do wrong? Why didn't he come? He promised.

That's when I felt it. The cracking in my spine. I felt like someone had broken my spine. I screamed in pain as my whole body was on fire. Every muscle and tendon ripping away and forming something completely new. My bones reforming after splintering and breaking.

In an instant I was down on all fours. I looked up and both my parents were about 20 feet away from me. My wolf was a dark chocolate brown. My parents cried in happiness. I turned to see that Jessica had shifted.

I yipped with joy and we were free. We took off running just enjoying the new found freedom we both had now. We didn't stop until we were in the woods past everything I had ever seen into a clearing.

I looked around and realized how well I could see every minute detail. The sounds I could hear were so far off.

My smelling ability was off the charts....but what was that delicious smell? It smelled like the woods after a fresh rain. I sniffed the air and howled again. I ran in the direction of the smell and came to a small cabin. My whole body shaking - the smell was intoxicating and I couldn't stand not knowing where it was coming from. I yipped as I looked around running around the cabin.

It had to be coming from in there. That's when the front door opened. I crouched behind a thick bush wanting to know where the smell was coming from. That's when he walked out of the cabin. I yipped again and jumped out of the bush wagging my tail.

Scaring him he shifted in to his wolf. Jet black with just as black eyes. They shifted when he looked into my eyes to his normal hazel eyes and he shifted back into human form. I shifted in to human form behind a tree. He threw his tshirt over to me as he slid on his shorts.

"Babe?" Jax yelled out. His voice sounded like velvet to my ears. I ran out behind the tree and into his arms.

"Where were you tonight? I was so scared something happened to you. Where were you?" I cried.

That's when I realized his touch was like a lightning bolt through my body. His eyes caught mine as I was about to ask what was going on when he mumbled one word "Mate."

I only slightly nodded my head when he kissed me. I moaned against his kiss. He trailed kisses down my neck and stopped where he needed to bite me to start the mating process.

Once he marked me no one would dare judge us or even think we weren't mated by the Goddess. His sharp canines grew and he bit. I yelped in pain but as soon as the pain started it had already finished.

My body melted in his arms. I felt weak at the knees and my heart screamed for more. His body fit perfectly with mine as our hands roamed each others bodies like we were new to each others bodies. He led me inside the cabin where our worlds clashed.

About 2 hours later I was just laying in his arms in the bed. We hadn't said a word to each other since he whispered Mate. Something I had dreamed about for years has finally come true.

"Jax...where were you tonight?" I whispered.

He sighed as I waited on an answer. My head was resting on his shoulder and my hand was tracing his stomach and chest. He wasn't skinny and he wasn't fat. His chest was strong from being an Alpha and playing sports all throughout high school. He slowly brought me up to him so he could explain. His finger traced my lips.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't there. When I shifted it took me all of 2 seconds to realize you were my mate. I couldn't control myself. I almost lunged at you. I told Damion that if it got to be too much to get you out of there and get you to safety. I had to run the other way. I could never see you get hurt you mean the world to me." he explained.

I kissed him. All the fireworks in the world couldn't even make up for the sparks I felt between us.

3 years later

I remembered those days like it was yesterday. Ecstatic to start a new life with my mate and so lucky to have found him before I knew he was my mate. But not all is fair in love and war.

It's been 3 years since I saw Jackson last.

After a whole night together in the cabin and after we completed the mating process we woke up to his parents at the door. They were so angry. Words were said, accusations were hurled at me. It was all my fault and I wasn't his true mate. It was all a mistake. His parents ripped him away from me that night. My wolf howled and whimpered in pain for months.

I did go to my graduation praying to the Goddess I see him there. Even Damion didn't know where he was. I ended up not going to college either, I ended up taking all my courses online to become a teacher.

After our night together I became pregnant. I went to his house trying to explain to his parents that I needed to talk to him or see him but he was already gone.

I had a little girl, I named her Adaline. She was my world. My parents ended up leaving the pack because of the harassment they received. They left me the house in their will. I learned only of their passing because a lawyer showed up at my door with the paperwork and death certificates. I was devastated. But I still had the house and I still had my daughter.
