Runaway Breeder.

Summer's POV.

The sun's bright rays filtering through the windows, I found myself not only in the Alpha's room but also in his bed.

Confusion clouded my mind as I mumbled to myself, trying to piece together the affairs of the previous night.

My head throbbed with pain as I sat up, propping myself on the bed.

My vision was hazy, so I used my hands to rub my eyes gently, attempting to clear my sight. Glancing around, I realised that the room was empty. I was utterly alone.

A sharp ache between my thighs drew my attention, and in that moment, a realisation struck like a lightning bolt.

"I had sex with the Alpha," I gasped, my fingers instinctively lifting the bed sheet that covered me and just then, I realised that I was naked

I'm now marked as Alpha Alexander's, forever tied to him, and I can't revert to being my former self, regardless of how hard I try.

The memory of his every touch and whispered word flooded back, as vivid as ever.

My body seemed to respond to the intense sensations of his presence, as if he was still beside me.

"You belong to me now, Mate."

His possessive assertion echoed in my mind, and I felt an uninvited smile tug at the corner of my lips.

"No, stop!" I shook my head, trying to dismiss those thoughts. These shouldn't be the focus of my mind right now.

Especially not the way he banged me throughout the night, the sound of my moans mingling with his, our bodies entwined.

Carefully, I slid out of the bed, spotting my clothes strewn across the floor. I collected them and dressed myself.

Given that I was in an unfamiliar place, I hesitated to request clothes, unsure of the rules within the mansion.

Firmly, I made my way to the door, pointing out the room's expansive nature that made pacing out of it a small feat in itself.

I was on the brink of stepping out when the sound of my phone's ringing captured my attention. Turning back, I found it resting on the nightstand beside the bed.

"Who could be calling at this hour?" I mumbled to myself, crossing the bed to reach the nightstand.

Though the number was unfamiliar, a strange instinct compelled me to answer the call.

As I pressed the phone to my ear, the words that followed hit me like a freight train, leaving me breathless and shattered.

"Your mother has passed away, Miss Summer Hills."

The message landed like a brutal blast, rendering me speechless and baffled, a storm of confusion, fear, sorrow, and anger engulfing me.

"What...?" The word barely escaped my lips, choked by hot tears that wafted down my pallid cheeks, mingling with the traces of my grief and regret.

"She passed away this morning, and your family has already made arrangements, under the direction of Mrs. Sarah Hills," the voice on the other end continued, and in that moment, the phone slipped from my grasp, landing heavily on the floor.

The voice on the other end continued to resonate in the background, likely concerned about my condition but I didn't care.

"No, no, no! They promised they'd save her with the money! How could this happen? Why is my mother gone?" My desperate cries erupted, echoing through the room as I collapsed onto the frigid floor.

The clash of my fall reverberated like a mournful tune. My world had crumbled, my will to live destroyed, and now Sarah's vicious plan had achieved its wicked success.

In the midst of my sorrow, a chilling realisation dawned: Sarah had staged my mother's death. She yearned for everything my father had, and to secure her gain, my mother had to die.

With strong determination, I rushed to my feet, pushed by a surge of urgency.

Swiftly, I stormed out of the room and headed toward the entrance through which I had entered the mansion just the previous night but I didn't know I had become a prisoner.

"I'm sorry, but we can't allow you to leave the mansion, Miss Summer," the two guards stationed by the door spoke firmly, their extended claws making it evident they were prepared to hold their pose.

"What do you mean? I must leave! My mother's life is hanging by a thread! I won't let this happen to me! You can't allow this!" I pleaded, desperation pushing me forward, trying to break through the barrier they presented but it was to no avail.

"Please don't force our hand, Miss Summer. Turn back, please!" one of them begged, but my decision was unshaken.

With a surge of determination, I pounced forward, attempting to slip between them. However, their grip tightened around me, their will unwavering, and I found myself caught in their unbreakable hold.

"Let me go now!" My voice held an edge of misery as I wrestled with them, though their strength surpassed mine.

Mid-struggle, they abruptly dropped me to the ground, their heads bowed as if following a command.

Confused and intrigued, I spun around to know the authority of this sudden change.

To my astonishment, it was Alpha Alexander himself; at least, he was going to help me pass. I thought to myself.

Crawling towards him, I clung to his legs, my hands clasping tightly as I pleaded, "Please, Alpha... I must leave. I have to…"

But his next words halted me in my tracks.

"Did you not read the contract you signed?" His question hit me like a heavy blow, leaving me sniffing and staring up at his towering figure, his gaze piercing down at me.

Evidently, I had missed something important in that contract.

"I can see that you didn't, Summer," he stated, his voice low as he lowered himself to my level.

A finger under my jaw tilted my face towards his, his closeness unnerving.

"You're not leaving this mansion, Summer. You belong to me now, and the life you once knew ended the moment you stepped into this mansion and put your signature on that contract."

He was firm in his assertion, his expression etched with anger and intensity.

His fury was real; my attempt to leave had clearly ignited his rage. It appeared that he had no intention of helping me, despite being my mate.

"What? My mother's life is at stake! She…" My plea was cut off as he rose to his feet, dismissing the rest of my statement.

"Lock her up and watch her no matter what!" His order was swift and relentless.

As he forcibly disentangled his leg from my grasp, he spun on his heel and strode away without a backward glance.

"Alpha, please! You can't do this! Please!!!" I sobbed, my pleas falling on deaf ears as he continued to ignore me.

Perhaps the Hamiltons had always been this callous and merciless, and I had been naive not to perceive it earlier.

In an instant, the two guards behind me seized me, their grip intense. Despite my struggles, I was powerless against their hold.

Soon enough, I found myself thrown into a dimly lit room, a reclusive window casting a faint reflection of daylight into the room.

I huddled in a corner, cradling my knees as tears streamed down my face. This was a story I had never expected, an ending I couldn't have imagined.

As hours, minutes and seconds passed by, The room plunged into complete darkness, yet Alpha Alexander had not returned, nor had he released me from his hold.

Amidst my sorrow, I unexpectedly overheard a conversation between two guards, their words slipping through the thin walls.

"The Alpha's been acting more harsh lately. I wonder if he can withstand his condition. A single seizure of aggression could turn out deadly for him," one of them noted with a tone heavy with concern.

Their words struck a chord within me. His health was weak, and I was locked in a room right next to them, listening to their fears without them knowing of my presence.

"Exactly. Perhaps that's why he brought in a breeder to the mansion. She might give him an heir," the second guard chimed in, a statement that left me stunned.

My heart raced, pounding in my chest as if trying to break free.

Summoning my courage, I rose from my spot and cautiously approached the door, my curiosity piqued.

"Even if the Alpha has an heir, his hereditary illness could kill the child just as easily. If I were that breeder, I'd flee from this situation rather than tie myself to a sick Alpha destined to die soon," the first voice revealed, sending a shiver down my spine.

My eyes widened in fear, gripping the deadly truth they spoke.

"Yes! And did you hear that she'll become Alpha Jackson's bride once Alexander is dead? I can hardly wait!" Their laughter echoed before they moved away, their voices fading as they left.

The shocking truth hit me like a ton of bricks. I had been a mere pawn in their twisted scheme; exactly why Ava had refused him.

"I can't let this happen to me! I can't bear his child! I can't stay here even if he is my mate!" Panic consumed me, my mind racing as my eyes darted around the room.

Then, I noticed a crack in the window.

Approaching cautiously, my decision thickened. With a swift kick, the window shattered, leaving behind a jagged opening.

A painful smile formed on my lips.

At that moment, I knew what I had to do. I had to escape, to run far away and never look back.

Urgency fueled every step as I made my escape through the broken window, leaving the pack and its sorrows behind.

My feet pounded the ground, carrying me farther and faster than I had ever imagined.

This was the moment of pain, the final good-bye to my family and the life I once knew.

After all, I wasn't pregnant for the Alpha yet.
