8. Her good days started

Alex entered the room after three hours, and Clara was already sleeping on the bed. He changed himself and sat on the right side of the bed. That was indeed a long day. Did he marry her? He looked at Clara. She looked like a doll. Her doll face matched all aspects of her face, and he found no reason to look away.

Her phone screen beeped with a message. Alex couldn't help but see that. It flashed in front of his eyes, and how could he ignore them when the message was about Alex?

"If Alexander was trying to do anything, just give him a hard kick below his abdomen. Or else slap him first and call me right away. I am just outside your home," Alex widened his eyes, reading the content. He looked at the id named Jason. Who the hell was he? Another message beeped.

"Did you have dinner?" Isn't he getting too worried about his wife? Alex hasn't seen her eat anything since their marriage. Is she fine?

"Please take care" The last message beeped, and Alex could see worry in that statement. He must be her best friend.

Should he wake her up so that she could eat something before she sleeps? Alex shrugged off his thoughts.

He took a bedsheet and covered Clara. She stopped shivering once she felt warm all of a sudden. She snuggled more in that blanket with a slight smile as she drifted into a deep sleep, making Alex smile at her.

Deep inside, he felt sorry for her. She didn't want to marry him in the beginning. And now, she is here. He blackmailed them. He took a deep breath and started packing his stuff. He wants to leave here. He needs some alone time.

He didn't inform her or anyone in the home. Maybe it will also help her to adjust to this new change in her life.

Clara woke up as the sun hit right over her face. She felt as if she slept for ages. Clara saw the blanket and wondered if it was there, when Clara had slept. She looked around to see if Alex was there or not.

"Sir left for a business trip." She read the message from Mac on her phone. Wow, the courtesy of his secretary. But look at him. Whatever, She doesn't care.

That is the best thing that ever happened to Clara. She got a good sleep in the master bedroom. It was just like a mini restaurant. She loved everything. She didn't like to marry him. But she had a peaceful day with no torture. What else could she ask for?

She entered the kitchen, and her stomach growled audibly to everyone.

Grace saw her entering the kitchen.

"Dear," Grace called her and sat in the dining area with a tray of coffee cups.

"Good morning," Clara wished the lady. Grace offered her a cup of coffee.

Clara took a sip, and her eyes teared up automatically. She didn't remember when she had the simple coffee last time. It would either be salty or bitter or something else. She never had coffee outside also because she could barely cover her expenses.

Did she go through a lot? The thought made her weak suddenly as she couldn't take another sip. What if she gets spoiled by such temporary happiness, and at the end of the day, she would be alone?

"Dear. What happened?" Grace got worried for her and cupped her cheeks.

"Sorry. I just remembered my mom." Clara replied hastily and wiped her tears.

"It's not wrong to cry. Don't hide, at least from me." Grace replied and caressed her cheeks with a smile.

"In New York, when I met your mom for the last time, she was damn happy because she was with you," Grace said, remembering the moment she met Stella a year before her death.

"I know. I remember," Clara replied, remembering the same day. To be more precise, the day when her mom came to know about Bella and her daughter, who was just a year younger than Clara. It was the same day when her trust was broken mercilessly. It was that day when Stella started guiding Clara to be smart enough to live on her own.

"She was just like you. Beautiful, innocent, smart, and brave." Grace can see everything in Clara. She kissed her forehead, and Clara hugged the old lady instantly. She felt like she had gotten someone for her from God.

"It was your grandmother's wish to get you married to Alex. We decided this very before when you were just six years old." Grace spoke with a smile.

"I don't know why you didn't want to marry. But I am sure you will never get a man like Alex. He is a pure-hearted person. You will surely get to know his good side one day, and I hope you both live happily," Grace's words were alien to Clara. There was no one in this world like that. After her father's betrayal, she has never believed anyone. She has never made friends besides Jason, her neighbor, classmate, and best friend.

"Have your breakfast before it cools down. You can rest entirely, and I have refused all relatives to meet you. You might be exhausted by these sudden events. So don't care about anyone and only rest in your room," The lady is indeed a magic Godmother. Clara felt at home with her presence.

She dug into the food and didn't have time to reminisce about how bad food she had in the past. Right now, she is blessed, and she wants to enjoy them.

Clara promised herself not to mourn for any memories. She wanted to look forward to her future. She wanted to build a strong future for herself and Paxton.

Elsa walked inside the home only to get a hot slap from Bella's side.

It was a shocker to Elsa. Bella had never even scolded Elsa. Elsa's eyes welled up automatically.

"Someone kidnapped me, and you didn't check to see what happened to me. Instead, everyone made that bitch marry Alex?" Elsa yelled and threw everything in the hall, creating an uproar there. Bella was shocked to hear this explanation. Did someone kidnap her daughter?

"If someone kidnapped you, how come you are here?" Ron asked dangerously. How can he believe her story?

"I ran away from there when they didn't see." Elsa cried vigorously, and of course, there was no way they could doubt her. Her tears and terrified face were evident, and they felt sad for her.

Bella made her sit and gave her food. Elsa ate them as if she was hungry for a full day. Bella cried, seeing her state. Who would have kidnapped her?

"I will check who did this. So now I don't want any more discussions on this topic," Ron said. He was worried that they should not involve the police in this matter. They might know about Xavier and his plan.

"Jenny, send me details about all ongoing project materials. I have already scheduled a meeting with the XYZ team. So don't cancel them. I will meet them on the same day and inform them about the address change. I will meet them in the restaurant." Clara spoke in a hurry. She doesn't want to sit there idle. It was so tiresome. She got permission from Grace to resume her work, and she was glad that no one had a problem with it.

Jenny just replied okay. That was not so her style. Jenny is her secretary and is always worried for Clara. She didn't even ask how she was. Clara shrugged off her thoughts as she started giving more work to Jenny to finish them off.

"Guess he ran away from the city," Sandy laughed, hearing the news of Alex.

"I have information about his wife. She was managing a fashion house. It was a small-scale business. Clara has no social life, unlike Elsa, the elder daughter who was quite famous." the secretary informed Sandy about Taylor.

"She doesn't have friends or even a single rumor" The secretary was incredibly amazed. How can someone so beautiful as Clara have a clean past? The secretary left the place.

"I will pay you back a thousand times more the same you had spoiled my life." Sandy crushed the picture of Alex and Clara's wedding picture in a magazine.

Sandy took his keys and left his premise in his sports car.

Clara walked directly to the restaurant and switched on her Bluetooth to call Jenny.

"I am here. Let's prepare our presentation fast." Clara spoke and hung up the call without listening to her reply.

Clara bumped into someone and widened her eyes seeing her.

"Wow. My beautiful sister," Elsa clapped her hand as Clara stood there, furious to see Elsa there.

It made Clara more furious now.

"If you can't take responsibility, why even commit?" Clara asked, yelling at Elsa. Why does she have to pay the price for Elsa's mistake? Clara just wanted to smash her head for real, and with the anger she has, she would kill her.

"I don't find any reason for your presence," Elsa snapped at Clara with a chuckle. She wanted to smash Clara, but now, she can't do that. She wanted to piss her off.

"Did you come here to attend the meeting?" Elsa laughed loudly, and Clara looked around. She froze entirely, realizing something. That can't be possible.
