I was locked in a dark room but not strapped to the chair. Food was given to me and, every time the door was opened, I tried to escape.

Didn't work though.

I kept on praying to God – hoping for a miracle. I wished for Shawn’s company to be saved. I didn't want people to lose their livelihoods because my life was on the line.

“I promise to not exact my revenge on Shawn any longer if you get us through this, God.” I had prayed, hoping he’d listen.

My revenge was something I desired for a very long time. It was something I had prayed for. Giving that up – praying to God and promising to let it go just because I didn't want other people to lose their livelihoods should mean something.

Right?

Could it be that I wanted something more than that revenge now?
