Chapter thirty six

Almost immediately, Kathy pushed Dominic aside and hurried out of his room swiftly. She sprinted back to her apartment and headed straight to the bathroom. Turning on the faucet, she splashed cold water on her face repeatedly in an attempt to regain her composure.

Staring at her tousled yet bashful reflection in the mirror, Kathy couldn't suppress a laugh. Though she couldn't pinpoint the reason for her amusement, she felt a wave of joy wash over her, filling her with an unfamiliar sense of happiness.

It had been a while since she last experienced this kind of contentment. As she continued to freshen up, Kathy found herself humming a tune.

Meanwhile, Dominic's mood was quite the opposite. Surveying his disheveled bed, he couldn't shake off the memory of how Kathy had pushed him away without hesitation and even made excuses for his behavior. He felt remorseful and foolish.
