1|| The blood moon

Earth

"High Alpha Pete, Luna Kyana." Their beta Keith came running towards them inside the pack house of the Silver Bow pack where the Alphas and Lunas of the four packs gathered.

"What's wrong, Keith?" Pete asked.

"Alpha, you need to check what's going on out. It's unusual." Keith said worriedly.

Pete and Kyana, along with the others, wasted no time and ran out of the pack house to see what's wrong and gasped.

"Pete..th-the moon..." Kyana said, staring at the bloody red sky and the unusually huge and red moon.

"The sun and the moon aligned at the same time." Pete replied in a low tone, grasping the situation.

Hearing this, Kyana snapped her head towards her alpha and knitted her brows in confusion.

"If that's the case, then why is the sky like that and the moon? What's happening, Pete?" Kyana asked, genuinely scared as she tugged on her mate's sleeve.

Pete turned around to face his Luna and cupped her cheeks in his large hands, caressing his thumb under her eye in a soothing manner. "Everything is fine, my Luna. I'm here to protect you if something goes wrong." He said and hugged his mate tight.

"Let's go inside for the time being and Ben, call the elders to see if they have any clue of what's going on." Alpha Frank told his own pack's Beta, Ben who nodded and hurried off to fetch the elders.

When they reached inside the pack house, Kyana noticed that Amy, Kat, and Bianca were feeling uneasy, and it alerted her. " Frank, I need to use the Hospital in the pack house and call May and Fern for me, please." Kyana said in a panicked tone as she guided the three to sit on the couch.

"What's wrong? Why do you need those?" Pete asked his mate.

"There's no time for your questions, Pete." Kyana replied firmly, and as if on cue, Amy let out a shrill cry, clutching her swollen pregnant belly, catching all of their attention.

"Frank, go now!" Kyana yelled, and Frank automatically started running to get things ready.

It was time.

As if a chain reaction, Bianca and Kat too started panting heavily and crying out loud in no time, and their mates started panicking.

"They weren't due yet! A week was still left." King said, wiping Amy's tears away from her cheeks.

"I don't know what's happening." Lee stated clearly worried seeing his mate in immense pain as she cried out loud and bit her lips, making them bleed.

Kyana called for Frank's beta, Ben and asked him to prepare the OT with 3 beds. "Lee, King, bring your mates to the pack hospital. Pete, help Bianca up. All of you, towards the back of the pack house. NOW!" Kyana yelled from the entrance, and the two wasted no time and carried their mates to where Kyana had directed and Pete followed them behind.

Once they were inside, the three were placed on the three separate beds placed in the room.

Frank dashed inside the room along with May and Fern tailing behind him with bowls of warm water, towels and other necessary items with concern clearly evident on their faces.

"Fern, May, please help me out here. Sterilize and prepare the OT for me please." Kyana politely asked them who nodded and did as she asked them to.

Kyana was very sure that her friends were in labour and by the time the OT was being prepared, she did a quick ultrasound and checked each of them. Kyana had never been so grateful for being a Doctor than at this particular moment.

"I ca-cannot an-anymore. It hu...hurts..AHHHHHHH!!" Amy screamed and reached out for her mate who hurriedly reached out and took her hand in his, and rubbed soothing circles over it. "It'll be fine love. I'm here." King whispered in his mate's ears which made her relax a bit at the assurance.

"Alright, Alphas please be beside your Lunas since they need you right now." Fern said and the other two scurried over their mates holding their hands and calming them down through the immense pain.

Kyana searched for her mate and found him standing by the window in deep thoughts as he looked at the bloody red moon and sky.

She thought of asking her mate what was bothering him but kept that for later since Amy needed her attention more at the very moment.

Werewolf births were quite different from humans and it required immense strength as well because werewolves gave birth in units.

After a few strenuous hours, Kyana with the help of May and Fern, were able to deliver the werewolf babies safely. however what was strange to all was that the babies were not born in units and all of them were surprisingly Alphas.

"Congratulations Alpha Frank and Luna Bianca, it's an alpha boy." Fern said placing the pup besides his mother who looked at him fondly and watched in surprise as the child's eyes flashed red.

"He's so beautiful Frank." Bianca said and Frank couldn't agree less. His son was indeed very beautiful.

"What should we call him?" Bianca asked her mate who thought for a while before answering. "Mathew," he said and Bianca smiled agreeing to the name.

Moments later, another pup's cries were heard and it was Alpha Lee and Luna Kat's child. "It's an alpha boy as well, Alpha and Luna." May said placing the pup beside Kat. "Beautiful," Lee muttered as he stared at his child lovingly.

"Jayden. I wanna name him Jayden." Kat said looking at the baby boy in surprise as his eyes flashed golden making his mother gasp. "I love it." Lee whispered in excitement and happiness as he kissed his mate's forehead lovingly before doing the same to his son as well.

The last child to be born was Amy and King's.

"Amy, you need to try harder. It's struggling to come out. Please do it for him." Kyana said making Amu try harder with all her might and by the time the child was out, Amy was all drained and out of energy.

"Look it's an alpha baby boy and he's too beautiful. Specially his eyes." Kyana said placing the newborn on Amy's chest.

King stared at his son in astonishment who looked at him with his big doe eyes flashing orange for a second surprising both of them. "Samuel. That will be your name." King said picking up his baby and cradling him while placing a soft kiss on his mate's forehead.

"Do you approve it?" King asked Amy who nodded her head faintly, exhaustion taking over her body.

"I want to sleep love. I'm tired." Amy stated faintly with drooping eyes as her mate caressed her hair lovingly.

"Alright all of you, leave the mothers with their sons to rest for a while. The father's can stay if they want though." Kyana said as she disposed off all the dirty towels and cloths and disinfected her hands.

"We'll stay." All the three alphas stated and Kyana nodded with a smile knowing how territorial and possessive all new Alpha fathers were.

"We'll be down if you need us." Kyana said as she turned to her mate who looked at her fondly and with a proud look on his face.

With his hand outstretched for her to take, Kyana gladly took the warm hand and left the room.

"What were you thinking earlier looking at the moon?" Kyana asked Pete when they were walking towards the main pack house, under the densely packed trees.

"I was observing," he replied.

"What?" Kyana asked raising an eyebrow.

"The moon and the sky. Just when the three Lunas got into labor, the sky turned bloody so did the moon but..."

"But what?"

"...but it's back to normal now." Pete said as he himself had no idea what was going on.

Kyana's eyes went wide at this and she whipped her head towards the sky to clarify her mate's words and frowned in confusion.

"How..how is it possible Pete?" Kyana asked in shock. Pete just shook his head and said, "I seriously have no idea love."

"Do you think this is the start of some prophecy? Or an indication to something?" She knew her mate wouldn't be able to reply to her worries, so she suggested something.

"We'll talk about this with the elders ok?" Kyana asked Pete who just nodded in response and hauled her tight in a warm embrace.

In the pack house

The two waited in the meeting room for the elders to arrive, both in their own thoughts.

Moments later, the door of the room opened, revealing Frank's beta Ben along with some of the elders of their pack. Some new and unknown to the alpha and Luna while some known.

"Alpha Pete, Luna Kyana. Greetings to you both." Elder Wan of the Silver Now pack said, after entering the pack house.

"Greetings elders and Elder Wan." Pete said greeting him along with the other elders and motioning them to take their seats.

"We have something to discuss with you all, but before that, let's have the other alphas here as well." Pete informed them and turned to say something to Ben when Kyana suddenly interrupted him midway.

"I'll send them downstairs and spend some time with my friends up there. Let this meeting be one including the alphas. I feel a bit tired." Kyana said and Pete nodded with a smile letting her off from his embrace with a soft kiss.

The three Alphas came down joining the others and strated with their discussion. "Elder Wan, do you have any idea of what might be the cause of such a change?" Frank asked him.

"We were shocked too to experience something like this but even the ancient books have nothing written about them. It's as though something like this happened for the first time ever." Elder Wan stated while the others nodded.

"Is there a way to know what caused this?" Lee asked eying the elders closely.

"Yes there is, but no one ever tried them ever," Elder Leu added.

"What's that?" Pete asked getting curious.

Elder Leu sighed before continuing, "We can ask the guardian spirits who have been guarding and protecting Arthdal for centuries."

"Guardian spirits?" This piequed Pete's interest.

"Yes." One of the elders answered.

"So what's the problem then?" King asked.

"The problem is that no one has ever seen them, and they don't show themselves even if you call them. Only the ones whose souls are pure or the descendants of Princess Luna's family can make that possible. It also depends on whether they want to show themselves willingly to you." Elder Wan said, making everyone sigh.

"And there are no living descendants of the moon goddess's family." King added with a sigh while the elders nodded.

"Well, that's it then. Thank you for your help. I'll send some of my trusted wolves to escort you all the way to your home. Thank you once again." Frank said and ordered Ben to assist them out.

Once they were gone, all the Alphas slumped into the couch and breathed. "You've got some useless elders there, Frank." Pete commented sarcastically.

"Oh shut up, Pete. Like yours could do any better." Frank replied, rolling his eyes.

"You never know." Pete scoffed and shrugged.

"Ah, by the way, why didn't you tell them about your mates giving birth?" Pete asked curiously.

"That..."

Flashback

"Guys, the elders are here and Pete's waiting for you all so that the discussion can start. I'll be with my favourite people for a while while you're gone." Kyana said with a sweet smile, and the three got up with a smile hearing that after kissing their mates and their kids.

"Take care of them, please." Frank said, looking at his wife and baby boy smiling at him.

"Aye aye! Captain." Kyana said, playfully saluting at them.

They all smiled at her childish behaviour and walked towards the door but before they could go out, Kyana called out to them, making them halt.

"Frank, I have a request." Kyana said, looking at his friends lying down with their children and turning to look back at her Alpha friends.

"What's it? You sound serious." Lee said worriedly.

Kyana let out a sigh and continued, "The birth of your kids during the unusual sky and moon might make the elders curious and I don't want anything to happen to you all so please don't bring up the topic at all and if they seem suspicious do tell me please."

The others remained silent for a while and looked at each other before agreeing to what Kyana said and headed out.

"So that's what happened," Lee said, turning to look at Pete.

"Ah, I get it now. That makes sense." Pete mumbled.

"Hey, do you know how to cook?" Lee asked the others, making them look at him curiously.

"I know." King said, making Lee beam at the statement.

"Perfect! Let's cook for our wives then. They must be hungry." Lee exclaimed in excitement.

"You mean me cooking for all of us since you guys clearly would turn the kitchen into a battlefield." King said, laughing hysterically.

"Oh, come on! We wanna do something special for our mates, right?" Lee asked, looking at Frank and Pete while Frank nodded his head hesitatingly.

"What about you, Pete?" King asked the Alpha, who looked uninterested.

"I'm out! I don't wanna kill my precious wife with my horrible cooking skills. I ensure the task to King." Pete said, patting King's shoulder and walking towards the kitchen, making the others laugh at his honesty.

"Let's make some tasty food then!" Lee and Frank exclaimed in excitement as the three headed towards the kitchen.

Meanwhile

"Kyana, why did you tell them to not let their births be known?" Amy asked.

"Amy, Bianca, Kat, tell me something. You felt it, right?" Kyana asked them, making their eyes wide with shock.

"How did you know?" Kat asked.

"I felt it too," Kyana mumbled.

"What did you exactly feel?" Bianca asked.

"As soon as I saw them, the kids, I had a strong feeling telling me that we shouldn't let anyone know about them and the feeling intensified when I saw the elders. There is something watching us from the shadows i feel like. That's why I decided to come up being discreet so that they don't notice anything different." Kyana said, sighing.

The three were just shocked hearing what she said, that they couldn't form words to speak.

"Why...I mean how could you feel that? I understand about us, but.." Amy was cut off when Kyana spoke. "I don't know, Amy. I don't know why. It just happened. Maybe the moon goddess wanted me to protect my best friends, that's why." Kyana said, smiling.

"Now that I carefully think about it, I'm grateful, Kyana. Those oldies always look for something to talk about, and this would be a headache." Amy stated, and the others nodded.

They were interrupted when the door abruptly opened as their husbands entered, holding trays filled with food in it.

"You all cooked for us?" Kat exclaimed in excitement, looking at Lee.

"I tried making something for you, my love. Though King helped me in making it," Lee added with a pout.

"It's fine. I'm excited to taste it." Kat exclaimed as she motioned Lee to hand her the food.

"Pete...I hope you didn't try any of those stunts. Huh...?" Kyana asked in horror, thinking about her mate cooking food for her and not some nuclear waste.

"Nah! I know if I do, you'll throw the bowl at me so I better save crockery and my handsome face here." Pete replied with a smirk while Kyana sighed in relief hearing this and gladly accepted the food tray.

The Alphas had their dinner with their mates, feeding them with love while their kids slept besides their mothers peacefully.

And this was the beginning of everything.
