Chapter 6 - Getting Stuck

"Trina, do you see it? Max's power is truly divine," Lux shook my shoulder, exclaiming with joy.

I couldn't hide the disappointment in my eyes, but I couldn't deny the truth I had witnessed, so I nodded in response to Lux.

Looking towards the stands, I saw doctors carrying Andrew out of the arena. Max stood there while my papi approached him to declare the winner.

I furrowed my brows, carefully observing him, and lowered my head in surprise when I realized he was looking in my direction.

But why should I avoid him like a cowardly thief? A determination ignited within me. He was the thief, the one who should be afraid and avoiding me.

I raised my head, responding to him with a sharp, determined look. However, Max just laughed, a mocking smile. I noticed Max's parted lips as if he wanted to say something to me. Reading his mouth shape, I realized he was teasing me as a "fool". Then, he approached my papi as if my reaction to his taunt was insignificant.

Angry at his damn joke, I stood up, wanting to leave the arena.

Lux held my hand back, "Trina, what's going on? Alpha is about to declare."

"Sorry, but I have something to do," I fabricated a vague reason.

"Alright, find me in the packhouse kitchen after you finish your business," Lux let go of my hand and reminded me.

I nodded, "I got it," and immediately left.

Stepping out of the arena, I realized how long the battle had lasted. The sun had gradually hidden behind the eastern mountain range. The sky turned purple, and soon it would be dark.

I took a deep breath. The fresh and cool air outside the arena helped to relax my mind.

Some memories from the last moments of my previous life flashed in my mind, making me shiver.

I needed to find those who had harmed me in my past life, I thought with determination. But reality hit me when I realized I didn't know where to start.

Chaos filled my mind. Unable to bear it any longer, I headed to the oak tree on the hill near the pack's training area, where a secret path could lead me away from the pack.

In my previous life, after Max's identity was exposed at my damn wedding, leading to my papi's death, I could only stay in my room and let David handle everything. One day, while walking alone, I discovered this path, and it became my secret.

I followed the grass near the oak tree, happy to find a patch of land different from the rest.

I pushed my foot down on that spot. It collapsed, revealing a tunnel that seemed abandoned for a long time.

I smiled, slowly descending into the small tunnel. The smell of soil and dust filled my nose, making my face dirty. It would be terrible if someone saw my face now. But at that moment, I just wanted a place where my mind could relax, and this was the only way.

My papi, Alpha Oscar, was overly protective. He definitely wouldn't allow me to leave the pack alone at night. And if I could find someone trustworthy to go with me, like Lux, I still had to pass his inspection. I had to tell him where I was going, what I would do, and when we would return.

"Has he forgotten that I'm over 18?" I complained to my mother, hoping she could convince my papi, but she could only shake her head.

At the end of the tunnel was an opening leading to the Black Eye forest. I just needed to crawl through it.

I didn't know how long I had been going in this dark and dusty tunnel until my hand touched a soft patch of ground, used to disguise the exit of the tunnel.

"It's here," I exclaimed happily.

With a thrust of my hands and feet, I broke the disguised ground. As the hole opened up, the moonlight welcomed me.

I didn't think I had been in this tunnel for so long. It was probably time for the pack's dinner. My papi must be frantic, looking for his elder daughter.

I didn't want to make him worry, but just before I turned my heel, I remembered that today the pack members would have dinner together to celebrate Max's victory. If I went back, I would only hear praises for that damn outsider.

My papi would be busy with wine and his new warrior. So, I had no reason to go back.

I crawled through the hole, but everything went wrong when I realized only half of my body could fit through. And no matter how hard I tried; I couldn't get the rest of me out of the tunnel.

Damn, I was stuck.

"Fuck your life," I angrily exclaimed.

What the hell was happening? Why wouldn't my hips fit through this damn hole? Didn't I succeed in my first attempt in my previous life?

After struggling to get out of this hole, I accepted that I couldn't unless someone came to help me.

But... it would be embarrassing to call for help and let someone see my humiliation.

I bit my lip, considering the possibilities. If I didn't get home before midnight, my papi would surely come looking for me. But Lux would definitely find me if she didn't see me at dinner.

In the end, I chose to rely on my luck, hoping that Lux would find me first.

But unexpected events are always ahead.

While getting frustrated with the long wait, I heard a familiar mocking voice, "Guess who's here?"

It was Max.
