One week later:

It was surprising and interesting to see how quickly everyone including myself and Leo were trying to readjust to pack life. Both of my parents had resumed their responsibilities almost the moment they set foot back into Whitlock, and the usual hustle and bustle of the village paths began every morning and evening just as it used to, and sometimes I’d look out my bedroom window and watch them all pass by. They’d causally greet each other, wave and smile and I’d sometimes feel this strange notion in my stomach from how normal and unaffected everything seemed to be, as if the last year never happened.

Even though a wall was still being built right in front of their eyes, no one seemed to take any notice of it, or even of the shambled trees along the border that had been snapped and ripped apart during the battle. Of course, it was only natural that everyone wanted to get on with their lives, especially now that we all felt a lot safer and had finally destroyed our enemie
