After hearing David mention Luke's girlfriend, Anna could not keep still. She immediately excused herself saying she had to use the ladies' restroom. Luke smirked at her action. He did not miss how nervous she felt when she heard that he has a girlfriend.
Anna walked outside the party hall and searched her purse for her phone. She quickly dialed the number.
The phone rang for a few seconds before it was picked, "Hello?" A man's voice said.
"What took you so long to receive the phone call?" Anna asked restlessly.
The man sighed and said, "Sister, I am a busy man and I have tons of work to do. I am not the chairman like your husband."
Anna was irritated by it, "Whatever, Robert. Just listen to me now. You have to immediately get Gia and bring her to my house."
Robert Cyprus is Anna's younger brother. They have been together through thick and thin. Crime or luxury, they were in it together. If Anna did the action, Robert managed the behind the scenes for her. And they shared the profits from it.
"Gia? She is at the university in a whole different state," Robert said. Gia Cyprus is his daughter. She is the very girl that Anna has been trying to match make to Luke. It is Anna's plan to take control of the Sawyer corporation step by step, so she could hand it over to her son, Leo in the future.
"Don't I know that? Just get her immediately. She does not need formal education to be a wife to the CEO," Anna almost screamed.
Robert's voice sounded brightly now, "Wife of the CEO? Really? Will you execute the plan now? Has the time come?"
Anna smiled at a passerby and then got back to the phone call, "Yes, the time has come. So get her immediately."
"Okay, got it. I might not be able to come there to personally drop her. But I will make sure she reaches your house as soon as possible," Robert agreed to his sister's plan. After all, she was helping to marry off his daughter to the CEO of the richest companies in the country. Why would he say no to it?
Inside the party hall, Luke is met by none other than the host of the party, William Simon.
"Ah, here you are my boy, Luke. How have you been? I have not seen you in a while," William said smiling at Luke which was returned with equal respect.
"Yes, uncle. I have been busy a lot lately. And I am doing good. I hope you are too," Luke said. He genuinely looked up to William's work ethics. So there was nothing he could hide regarding work with him.
William laughed lightly, "Of course, you are the CEO of the Sawyer corporation. If not you, who else will be busy? I am so proud of you Luke."
"Thanks uncle. Oh and congratulations on the anniversary," Luke said remembering the main reason he was here.
Before William could reply anything, a tall and handsome figure made its way towards them.
"Uncle Will!! Congrats! 35 years is a great deal," said the man. William chuckled, "Uff… that is a big 35 years, Leo."
Luke smiled at his half brother, Leo. They had a huge age gap between them. Luke was 8 years old when Leo was born. No matter how much Luke loathes Anna, he has always loved Leo. Luke held no anger towards Leo and vice versa. People would think half brothers are rivals in every way. But in the Sawyer brothers' case, it was absolutely different. Leo always looked up to Luke and even followed his footsteps through school and college.
"Well, thank you boys for coming to the party and congratulating me," William said. Luke said, "That is the least we could do."
"Oh Luke. By the way, when are you going to get married? And give anniversary parties? I can't wait for you to get married. My daughter, Sunny, is still single just so you know," William joked and winked at Luke. Leo and Luke could not help but laugh at William's words. William had this secret desire to marry his daughter to Luke since they were kids. But Luke and Sunny seemed to have the same choices in partners, women. But William was not aware of his daughter's preference.
"Uncle, I am sorry to break your hopes. I have a girlfriend now. If possible, I will introduce her to you soon," Luke said honestly.
Leo and William's eyes widened at those words. William gave a look to Leo, and Leo defended himself immediately, "I had no idea about this. He never mentioned a girlfriend to me before. This is the first time I am hearing the word girlfriend out of my brother's mouth." Luke chuckled at his brother's reaction. Leo was cute even after growing up.
"Although I am slightly disappointed, I want to meet this girl very soon, who has stolen your heart," William said. Luke agreed to it. William then excused himself to meet other guests. It seemed like he was more than slightly disappointed at Luke's revelation.
"You broke his heart, bro," Leo said. Luke smiled at his brother, "I cannot help it." Leo gave a sympathetic nod to his brother and walked to talk to his mother. He had noticed her signaling to him to go to her. Luke happily bid bye to Leo and was soon out of the party hall with Gabriel, who was kind of drunk already.
"Hey, mama," Leo greeted his mother with a kiss on her cheek. Anna did not have the same enthusiasm as her son.
"Did you hear that Luke has got a girlfriend?" She asked him. She had noticed him talking with Luke and William. It was bugging her to dig up something about this so called girlfriend of Luke.
Leo nodded his head, "Yeah, bro told about his girlfriend to uncle William. Poor uncle William, he had high hopes of marrying off Sunny to Luke."
Anna hissed at his words, "That is not the point, son. What if Luke is going to marry her and have a kid? He already has the CEO position in the company. Your dad will definitely give away the company to him."
Leo frowned at his mother's words, "Mom, Luke has worked hard for the company. And it belongs to him if anything. It was his originally before whatever happened." Leo was partly ashamed about how his mother entered the Sawyer family. He was even bullied for the same reason at the school. If not for Luke's intervention, Leo would not have a proper education.
Anna suppressed her anger for now, "You better work hard and get on good terms with your father regarding the company. And I won't allow Luke to have everything. It belongs to you as much as it does to him."
Leo did not spare another moment won't his mother. He simply walked away. He was tired of his mother's antics.
Ruby sighed, sitting on her bed. She had been packing her luggages since morning and it seemed like it was never ending. She never knew she had so much stuff. Yesterday after signing the contract with Luke, Gabriel had entertained them a little before they had bid bye. Ruby had been to her part time work places and resigned right away. It was kind of difficult to resign from her job at the departmental store that she used to work at. It was not a problem with the owner but the memories of breaking up with her then boyfriend, Adam in that place made it difficult for her. She had left the place with tears in her eyes. Within a span of a month, her life was turned upside down. One moment, she had a boyfriend whom she thought it was a serious relationship and the next moment she had broken up with him and signed up to become a surrogate and then she was carrying someone's child and now she was even moving in with him and had signed to become his pretend g
12Luke and Ruby had settled down quite well. Ruby felt like she was living in a whole different world. Luke had been a sweetheart and made her feel at home. He had a separate room arranged for her. It was like a princess room. And the attached bathroom in her room was not lacking any amenities. Ruby had to not worry about anything else.In fact, Ruby found herself having a lot of free time and she had no idea how to spend it. She spent her time at Luke’s penthouse, mostly exploring the place. And she found it hard to exquisite. She compared Gabriel’s independent house to Luke’s huge penthouse. The view from the penthouse was picturesque. And Ruby loved to see the sunrise and sunset from the huge window in the living room.Luke was getting ready for work. H
“What? Dinner? At your parents’ place?” Ruby almost screamed as she plopped down on the couch. Luke came home after a long day of work and told her about his father's dinner invitation. Ruby felt like she was not yet ready to meet the other members of Luke's family. She surely had met David. He seemed like a nice man but that was a very brief meeting.“Yes, dinner. At my father's house,” Luke said and took a seat next to her.Ruby pouted at him and Luke could not help but notice how cute she looked at this moment. But he did not dare voice out his thoughts.“You will have to meet them at some point. The sooner the better,” Luke said, trying to convince her.Ruby continued to pout. That wa
“Hey, make that baby shut its mouth,” screamed the young girl from her first class seat on the plane. The flight attendants came running towards her seat. “We are sorry for the inconvenience ma’am. But the baby is getting fussy.”“What can I do if the baby is feeling fussy? I can't sleep with such noise,” said the young girl. The flight attendant tried her best to calm down the young girl, “I will talk to the parent once again. Once again sorry for the inconvenience.” the young girl huffed and leaned back in her seat.“Get me some red wine,” the young girl said to the other flight attendant while the previous one went on to talk to the guardian of the baby. They tried their best to soothe the crying baby. Afte
Seeing everyone ignore her and leave her alone, Gia's anger only doubled and tripped in a matter of time. She immediately stormed out of the penthouse. And she grabbed her phone from her purse and dialed her Aunt Anna's phone number.“Hey, sweetie,” Anna greeted from the other side of the phone. Gia cringed at her aunt's greetings. Normally she would have greeted back with the same enthusiasm but today she did not feel like reciprocating it.“I wish I could greet you with the same sweetness, auntie,” Gia said as she got off the elevator. She walked out with such anger fuming away from her body. The guard from earlier did not even spare a look at her side. That pissed her off even more. Because when ruby had entered the building, he had given her a polite bow.
The early morning light beamed through the windows of Luke's bedroom. He groaned not wanting to wake up yet. While he stayed in the bed, convincing his body to get up, he heard some sound from the next door. In the next room, ruby lived. He wanted to make sure that ruby is doing well so he kept her close to his room.Luke stopped moving on the bed and listened carefully to the sound. But still he could not get the sound properly. So he immediately jumped out of the bed and went to her room. There, he found ruby in her bathroom. Crouched, emptying her stomach. Although he was hesitant at first Luke was now used to being the helper. He went towards ruby and held her hair behind her head. And he rubbed her back trying to soothe her pain. When she was done with the job, ruby went to the sink and rinsed her mouth, all the while Luke held
Gabriel hummed a song as he walked through the corridors of Luke's company. He had no plans of joining the company and taking things seriously. So here he was, to bug his best friend.Gabriel saw that Luke's secretary was holding a cup of coffee as she came out of the pantry. He walked directly towards her, “Is that for me darling Madeleine?” He asked her.Madeleine was a twenty something girl and she had been working as Luke's secretary as recently as four months. She was good enough for the job and Luke was in dire need of a secretary as he had fired the previous one because of a certain reason.Madeleine looked up at Gabriel. She gave him a million dollar smile and said, “I am sorry to say this. But this is for the boss. If you want coffee then I will ma
Ruby came to the kitchen. She had been in her room since she had come back from the college. She wanted to bring Mia along with her just to show her the place. But Mia seemed to have other plans and she promised ruby that she would visit her very soon.Ruby saw Rosa collecting good potatoes. Ruby had grown to love Rosa's cooking. In fact she loved the fact that someone is here to cook for her and she did not have to worry about anything else.“Are you preparing for the dinner?” Ruby asked Rosa as she sat on one of the barstools near the aisle. Rosa turned around to face Ruby and smiled, “Yes, I was thinking of making Beef and mushrooms with smashed potatoes. It is very healthy for you and the baby. What do you think? Do you want anything else?” She asked.
