CHAPTER 6

Victor placed Ruby's body on the surface of the bed. He pulled the covers up to his chest and turned off the lights. After a long drama, Victor finally managed to bring Ruby back to the apartment. For the time being, his anger was put on hold. Victor walked to the exit door and closed it slowly.

Victor looked around Ruby's apartment, which was filled with bags of groceries. Victor squatted down, unbuttoned his shirt, and rolled up the sleeves to his elbows. He began arranging the groceries one by one into Ruby's fridge, all the contents of which he had previously thrown into the garbage can and even some food that was no longer suitable but still kept.

"Gosh, why is this apartment so hot?" Victor muttered, pushing his hair up.

'I shouldn't have been adopted by your family!'

Ruby's words replayed in his mind. Was Ruby so sorry for everything? Victor felt sorry for her, but he had no choice. Only Ruby could help him, there was no woman in the world that Victor could trust other than Ruby and Carly.

"Argh! Fuck!" cursed Victor as he stood back up.

A beautiful morning greeted Victor's face. Carly smiled as she opened her eyes, the face of her lover beside her. Victor came sneaking in last night, as Carly realized, but she was too tired and only felt Victor's warm embrace.

"I'm so handsome, ugh?" murmured Victor in a husky voice.

"High self-confidence. I like it," Carly replied, bringing her face close to kiss Victor's lips.

"Not going back to the mansion?" asked Carly, seeing that Victor was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday.

"Ummh, I came straight from the company to see you," replied Victor, kissing Carly's fingers.

"In the end, your home is just me, isn't it?" Carly caressed the cheek of Victor, who was asleep beside her.

Walking side by side with Victor for five years is enough to make Carly understand. That Victor was the only reason Carly smiled, that he was the only safe home for Victor.

Victor only has Carly as his family. All the wealth that Victor currently has, even the success of being the second-youngest billionaire at the age of 32. Not worth the pain of growing up with the loss of parents at a young age.

"I returned to my home. Just Charlotte Matthews' magnificent house with lots of love in it," Victor said, burying his head in the crook of Carly's neck. Inhaling the scent of her body that Victor had always longed for.

"A home that will be filled with little boys who look just like you," Carly replies, nuzzling Victor's mane.

"And have an angelic mother like you," Victor added with a small peck on Carly's cheek.

The first sight Ruby saw was in her kitchen. The broken ship of her apartment looked like an abandoned house, with all the groceries she picked up at the convenience store scattered on the floor and on the table. Ruby's head was still spinning as she tried to reach for a bottle of cold mineral water in the refrigerator. Her hand pulled the refrigerator door handle, and the scene was almost the same as on the floor. All the cold drinks in her fridge were gone and replaced with fruit, milk, and vegetables all rolled into one.

"Argh! Damn Victor!" Ruby cursed, looking at the trash can.

Instantly, her mood was ruined, and her dizzy head got even more dizzy. There was no energy for today other than walking to the sofa and lying back there. Her eyes, her eyes that had closed again, thought of one thing.

"The black card is still with me," Ruby muttered, starting to think about what she would do with Victor's black card.

Victor, who was in his office, turned his face from the laptop screen to his cell phone. Notifications kept popping up, and he purchased items using his black card.

"Shoes, bicycle?" said Victor, looking at the top message notification.

"Shit! How clever of her to use my money!" Victor muttered as he looked at the list of prices for the bicycle and shoes Ruby had bought online today.

Ruby, on the other hand, was enjoying her bike ride. Wearing only a t-shirt and a hat that was placed upside down, Ruby enjoyed the morning atmosphere by cycling. The bicycle of her dreams that she was finally able to buy, even though she used Victor's money. Ruby stopped at a coffee shop, she ordered a glass of iced coffee and a croissant.

Sitting outdoors, she looked at the pregnant woman, who was also sitting alone, not far from her. Ruby wondered what would happen if she managed to conceive.IVF had been successful, and she was just waiting for the time to be transferred to her uterus. The question now was, could she get through it all? Her mental state would probably be disrupted, and her mood would be messed up. She had to do without a support system, Victor and Carly just wanted their baby to be born without thinking about Ruby.

"Rubyjane."

Ruby gasped as the waiter came and called her name, she just nodded as her message was delivered.

"Argh! Help!" the pregnant woman in front of her suddenly shouted for help.

Ruby looked left and right, and no one was moving. With no choice, Ruby quickly left her desk and approached the young woman who was enduring the pain.

"What can I do to help?" asked Ruby, who was also confused. This was the first time she had experienced such an unexpected event.

"Call my husband," replied the young woman, handing Ruby her cell phone.

Ruby's hand quickly searched for the stored number. But strangely, there was no number with her husband's name on it, so she looked back at the pregnant woman in front of her.

"What's your husband's name?" Ruby asked again.

"Ex. We're divorced," the young woman replied.

Ruby immediately got a number with Ex's name. She waited irritably for the call to be answered until the third dial tone.

"Hello, your wife. I mean, your ex-wife asked you to come."

Before Ruby could explain, a female voice was heard sighing. Ruby furrowed her brows as she tried to repeat what she had said.

"Hello! Are you listening to me? His ex-wife is in pain right now." Ruby continued to speak, but she got a reply that didn't fit.

"Argh, stop, honey! Hello, my boyfriend has nothing to do with the bitch who owns this phone, tell her to stop contacting my boyfriend."

"Fuck off your mouth!" Ruby cursed before disconnecting the phone.

Ruby saw the pregnant woman being transferred into a taxi. Ruby quickly got in and sat next to the pregnant woman, who immediately held her hand tightly.

"I will accompany you. No need to worry," Ruby said with a genuine smile.
