A Business Proposal

In a very large space full of greens. The sound of the private jet was the only sound that dominated the place.

Diana Davis climbed down the stairs of the jet while pulling off her sunglasses. Her eye catching, silver coloured hair, fluttered in the wind as she smiled at the hot looking men all dressed in black suits.

"This way ma'am" They quickly surrounded her and started to lead her towards a mansion.

Diana stopped in front of the mansion and just stared for a few seconds. For five years, she hadn't stepped a foot in this country or in this mansion where she grew up.

She had been in Las Vegas running her own secret business and if not for that call and that sly old man, she wouldn't have agreed to come back.

The place held too many bad memories for her but, sighs, that old man. He used his sickness to threaten her and promised, if she didn't show up then she'll have to carry his dead body the next day and here she was, in this familiar green place. Afraid that the old man might really hurt himself.

She inhaled deeply and took a step inside, putting on a poker face as so many familiar faces greeted her.

"She's here!" someone announced and they all rushed forward to greet her with smiles on their faces.

Only... those smiles were fake as she stared at everyone of the bitches and son's of bitches that welcomed her.

She didn't bother responding to them as she strolled in. A feast was prepared, colorful lights danced around, and it looked like a party was going on.

Was it for her?

She looked up and saw the huge writings above 'Welcome back Diana'

She fought the urge to laugh and just used her eyes to search for the old man in the sea of crowded people. It was funny how all these people came out to welcome her when they usually couldn't stand her.

She couldn't help but feel like something was going on. Did the old man threaten them?

She finally found the old man sitted among his peers and drinking happily.

Heh, this was someone who was suppose to be sick.

Someone whose life was hanging by a thin thread yet here he was partying.

"Grandpa" her lips parted and she called sweetly. All the attention was immediately on her as the old man sighed and beckoned for her to come.

She smiled at him. This smile seemed sweet to others but when the old man saw it, he shivered and started to sweat.

"Who would've thought you'd grown to be this beautiful" An elder smiled at her as she approached her grandpa.

"Right, old man, you're so lucky"

Diana ignored their comments fixing her gaze on her grandpa "I didn't expect you'd still be alive and able to party like this. Old man, do you realize what you've done?"

She ignored the gasp and murmurs that came after she said this. The old man wasn't bothered by how she phrased her words. He gave her a sly smile.

"If I hadn't used that tactic, you wouldn't be here, would you?"

"Mmm" She nodded "That's why I'll be on my way back" she turned around, pretending to want to leave.

"Wait" The old man called and she stopped to listen to what he had to say. "I have a business proposal for you"

Business proposal?

She licked her lips.

This old man sure knew how to keep her.

"What am I getting from it?"

"More than you can imagine" The old man chuckled and took a sip of his wine, waiting for her reply.

"You better not be lying to me" she said "I'll be upstairs"

Her eyes surveyed the people around, they had forced smiles on their faces and she shook her head. A scoff left her lips and she started to climb the stairs when someone spoke, making her stop in her tracks.

"This celebration was meant to welcome you back yet you're going to ignore us like this even after our hardwork? Diana, do you think you're a princess?"

That voice. How could she forget it?

Angela. Her father's other child.

Diana slowly turned around to meet the girl's eyes. A smirk formed on her lips and as if no one had just spoken, she continued climbing up the stairs without a word. The murmurs and gossips that reached her ears were horrible. She knew Angela was pretending to cry to receive the pity of everyone once again. It always works but now, Diana couldn't care about that.

She wasn't the same girl who would get bullied by them and not be able to retaliate.

She went straight to her former room. Pushed the door open and sighed, looking around her. Nothing changed.

Everything was as she left it seven years ago. Apart from the room being squeaky clean and in order every other thing, the paintings, carpet, furnitures were all thesame.

She brought out her phone and went through her contacts, clicking on the one that displayed 'Mia'. She clicked on the message icon and typed.

'I'm in the country. Just arrived'

It wasn't a minute after she sent this, a call came in immediately. It was from Mia.

She smiled and answered

"Did you just say you're in the country? Which country? Our very own country? Geez I cannot believe this! Are you in the old mansion? Why would you come back without telling me in advance ahhhh..." Bella rambled on and on the moment the call was answered, she had so many questions to ask this dear friend of hers.

"Hey, relax. How do you expect me to answer all of that?"

"I'm just so excited you see. Its such a pity I can't come over right now"

"You're out of town?" Diana asked.

"Yes. But don't worry I'll be back soon" Mia replied

"I won't be staying for long, so you better get your ass down here, quick"

Diana spent the rest of her day on her phone, after taking a quick shower she read reports of her business overseas and only stopped when a knock came at her door. She frowned and went to open the door. A maid was standing there, she bowed a little when she saw Diana.

"The master wants to see you in his study"

Diana knew the master she was referring to was the old man. It was what every other person called him. She nodded at the maid and went back to change her clothes then headed towards his study.

"You're here?" The old man looked up from the book he was reading.

Diana took a seat and just stared at him. She was still angry at the tactics he had used to bring her here.

"How have you been Diana? Didn't you miss me one bit?"

"Grandpa, I prefer you go straight to the point, what's the deal?" Diana had no smile on her expressionless face. It made it hard for him to guess what she was thinking.

He sighed. As expected she was still angry. This won't work. He had to quickly pacify her before he said what he wanted or she would be so mad and leave right away. But what could he give it to her? She was rich on her own, a business woman even without his help, he couldn't buy her cars or order the most expensive jewelry as she could get all those herself. He realized there was nothing he could give this grand daughter of his.

So he just silently slid her some documents.

Diana took the documents while eyeing him, she didn't trust this man one bit especially now that he was in her red list and this look he was giving her was so suspicious.

She started to read through the document. As expected, her expression changed, turning uglier with every line she read.
