Ch. 11: Changing Her Name

Leah waited for the clerk to come back with the documents. She was gone for about ten minutes before reappearing.

“Thank you for your patience, Miss Harrison. Would you like to take a new photo, or keep it the same?”

“A new photo please.”

“Okay, come around to the right and I’ll meet you at window 3.”

“Thank you.”

Denice went around the corner and to window 3.

“Look into the camera for me and stand behind the white tape on the floor. I’ll count to 3 and if you want to smile, you may. Ready?

“Ready.”

“1,2,3.” Click. “Perfect. It’ll be printed in 10 minutes. You are welcome to have a seat while I get those printed out for you. Here are your documents for the title and the insurance.”

“Thank you ma’am.”
