Words could not express just how emotionally drained and tired I was from having everyone want something from me. I was not the last being on earth, but they all made me feel so in a sick and terrible manner.

“What do you mean? It’s only a child that’s still growing in my stomach,” I reminded my uncle, who had just claimed the unborn child in my stomach as his ticket to becoming the Alpha of Fangsbane, just the way Daemon had laid claim earlier.

At the reminder of Daemon and why he had chosen me in the first place, I narrowed my eyes suspiciously at Carlos. “Why this baby, in particular? Why do you want my child as your ticket? If you want to be the Alpha of Fangsbane, you can get it as easily as challenging Seth for title and winning in a one-on-one battle.”
