The endless wait

It had been four days and Anna was still not awake. Ian had been close to her side the entire time. He was becoming desolate with each passing day. What if she did not wake? What would become of him then? He paced the room praying, to what he was not even sure, immortal beings don't have traditional gods. He turned to face Anna. He had made sure to bathe her and brush her hair everyday. She lay there still as a statue in her pink silk night gown. Were it not for her breathing one would almost think she was dead.

"Oh my darling, I cannot survive much longer with you in this state" he pleaded.

Anna's eyes fluttered and her heart began to pick up pace.

Ian took notice.

"Please Anna come back to me!" he cried out.

He was a proud man but for her he would grovel across glass if it would bring her back.

"Not so loud" Anna whispered, so hoarse from being silent for days.

"Thank the gods" he cried pulling her to him.

"You scared me" he said his face in her neck " I thought I had lost you."
