Mack sat back as he watched her drive. The seat was so far up she was too close to the steering wheel for his taste. He knew it was because of her tiny legs, but he knew if something happened, she would get hurt. He was trying to think of anything that would distract him from thinking of her at the moment. “Did you want to go to your house first to grab some stuff?” she asked.
“Actually, since we know most of them are at the hospital, that might not be a bad idea. We have to be quick, and I will need your help.’ He said as he looked in the back seat with the box that was there. He saw the picture on the top, and he moved to the side and lifted it up. He was shocked. “Haven, why did you have this in your office?&rdqu
10“Big oaf?” he asked with a smirk. “Really, that is the best you could come up with?” “New year's resolution not to swear so much.” She said as she looked in the mirror with a smile. “It was by far not what I wanted to say.”“Haven, I am serious though you can’t be involved in this. I can’t let anything happen to you.” Mack said, and she could see the pleading in his eyes.
He looked at her through hazy eyes when he saw her moving in the room. “And where do you planning on sleeping?”“The couch.” She replied. “It is comfortable enough.”“No,” he said as he looked at her as she came closer. “What do you mean no. Mack, this is my house. I can sleep where ever I want to.” She laughed slightly. “You need to rest. Despite you thinking yourself to be superman. The bullet that hit you was real.”“Tru
“Mack,” Haven said softly. “Never again.” He whispered on her lips as he kissed her again. Her hands stayed around his neck, and he took his time her. Though he was stopped thinking totally, he just let everything happen as it needed to. When he pulled back again, he looked at her as her eyes opened. “You are never going to disappear from me again. I need you too much, Haven.”“Need?” she asked as she looked at him with confusion in her eyes. “Need.” He said as he looked at her. “Haven, I was your friend. In your mi
“I am still not sleeping in your room, though.” He said with a smile. “Not yet, at least.”“Mack.” She said softly. “There is a time and place for everything, and we don’t need to rush things. We have a few things to catch up on.” Mack said as he smiled into her eyes. “The important things didn’t change, though.”“Mack.” She said as she shook her head. “You can’t just assume things.”“Am I assu
He looked in the room and saw it was furnished with a small cot bed and a computer. “I think you might need to explain this to me.” He said softly as she took a step in. “What is to explain?” She asked. “It came with the house.”“But why?” he asked as he turned to her.“I’m not sure. I thought it was cool, but it would never really have a big purpose here. There is another smaller one in the basement that is supposed to be a wine cellar but has a safe room of sorts that is concealed.” Haven said with a shoulder shrug
Haven stood there waiting for some sort of response from the man who was trying to read her. She pulled out her phone and looked at the man in front of her again. She knew it was a long shot, but she hoped it was enough of a bluff that she didn’t have to call her brother over to her house. She would never hear the end of it, and Mack would be trapped in the room for hours while she got lectured. The officer was debating on what to do. He looked at her again and then looked around him and nodded. The men that were placing things a few minutes ago were taking everything out from the hiding spots that they had placed them. She didn’t show her relief as she stood there looking and watching the men work.
“This one is smaller.” She said softly when he rolled slightly off of her and eased his arm that was pinning her to his side. “I know.” He said. “We might as well enjoy this seclusion. I mean, who knows how long I will have to be in here.”“I, however, do not have to be in here.” She said as she laughed. “I guess I should show you the last part of the room.”“There is more?’ he asked.“Well, I think it was supposed to be a
Haven looked at him as he cupped her bottom with his hand and looked into her eyes. “I should order dinner.” She repeated. “What do you want?” “Anything would be nice.” He smiled. “Though right now, I think you are the desert.” “Mack.” She said softly. “Nope. You aren’t going to get away from me that easily.” He said as the color in his eyes changed right before her eyes. “I have to go to call Kyle.” She said
