Farewell

Ashley's POV

The bathroom was filled with the playful sounds of splashing water and giggles as Charlotte and I bathed our grandchildren together. The warm, sudsy water enveloped their little bodies, and their eyes sparkled with joy.

"Look at them," I said, smiling at Charlotte. "They're growing up so fast."

Charlotte chuckled, gently rinsing soap from one of the children's hair. "They really are. It feels like just yesterday they were the ones splashing around in this tub."

As we continued bathing the kids, the conversation shifted to more profound matters.

"You know, Ashley," Charlotte began, her voice soft and contemplative, "I've been thinking a lot about the legacy we're leaving behind. The values we've instilled in our children and grandchildren."

I nodded, rinsing a washcloth and handing it to Charlotte. "Yes, it's something that weighs on my mind as well. We've tried to teach them kindness, compassion, and the importance of family."
