Chapter 6 Eavesdrop

The receptionist glanced at Sierra. It was hard to forget a pretty face such as Sierra’s from the wedding reception.

“Can I have a form of identification for registration?” The receptionist asked with a smile.

Sierra handed over her driver's license, which showed she had the same last name as the bride. The receptionist believed Sierra's story and assigned her the room next to the bridal suite.

Then, Sierra took the key card and walked into the elevator.

In the bridal suite, Paige grasped onto Chris for dear life. He came on so strong that she had to cling to him for balance.

She looked at Chris. The intensity in his gaze scared her.

“Chris…” Paige let out a soft cry of his name, her voice trembling with sobs.

Chris had made her cry earlier.

She thought the crying would stop Chris, but boy, was she wrong.

His behavior was not that of a brother-in-law.

Paige thought if she reminded him that they were supposed to be in-laws, Chris would remember she was his ex-fiancée’s sister and find it in his heart to let her go… However, he did not. Still, Paige alerted him that he was her brother-in-law, hoping he would at least be gentle with her. Guess she was naïve.

Paige had to wonder if her constant reminders had triggered memories of Sierra's betrayal, and that was why Chris was taking it out on her.

“Yeah?” Chris’ voice was hoarse. He turned Paige around and switched to another position.

Paige lay in bed, getting the urge to cry in despair.

He said it was early and that the night was young.

Paige believed she might die from the prolonged activity.

“…I’m tired,” Paige pitifully said, hoping Chris would take the hint and let her go.

“How are you tired? You’re not doing the work,” Chris commented.

Paige had no words.

What was she supposed to say to that?

It was not as if she had the energy to answer him anyway.

There he went again…

Sierra kneeled by the wall with her ear pressed against the surface. She listened intently for sounds coming from the next room as her beautiful face grimaced. Her eyes filled with anger.

Paige was a liar. She promised Mom she would not give Chris any attention. However, Paige was eager to get into Chris’ pants the moment Sierra and Mom left.

She was shameless!

Although Sierra could not see Paige’s face, the sounds Paige was making were telltale of her indecent behavior.

Sierra did not want to listen anymore as it only made her mad. However, she could not help herself. Furious, she wondered what Chris was trying to prove.

Chris never showed interest in her in the bedroom when they were dating. Sierra thought then that Chris was abstaining from his needs. She even once doubted whether he could perform in the bedroom. Otherwise, he would have touched her during their year-long engagement.

They mostly held hands when they went out. Even kissing was a rare occurrence.

In this time of age, men and women were open to sleeping together even on the first date. However, Chris and Sierra were exceptions to the rule. They dated for a year and were engaged, but they had never gone all the way.

Of course, Sierra was going to question Chris’ masculinity.

By the noise coming from the other room now, Sierra realized that Chris did not have trouble in the bedroom. He simply did not see her that way.

Sierra jolted to her feet and walked to the middle of the room, not wanting to hear what was going on behind the other side of the wall. She furrowed her brows and glared at the wall. She thought to herself, ‘No. I don’t lack charm. Chris does find me attractive. He just respects and loves me too much. He wants to wait until our wedding night to make our first time special.’

That must be it.

Sierra stared daggers at the wall for a while before pressing her ear against the wall again to listen.

While she did not want to know about their intimacy, she could not help herself from eavesdropping.

Sierra wanted to know how much Chris could make Paige scream.

Paige woke up in the evening. The sunset through the floor-to-ceiling window was warm and radiant.

She was in a sleepy daze, struggling to get out of bed as her body was sore. Chris kept her up all night long.

Chris was not in the suite.

Paige sighed in relief. She did not know how to face Chris.

Feeling parched, Paige fought through the discomfort and got out of bed. She put on a bathrobe from the closet and downed the bottled water on the bedside table. Her throat was raw, and she almost lost her voice.

She felt a lot better after a drink of water. Paige went into the bathroom to freshen up.

Paige brushed her teeth, washed her face, and ran the bath. She removed her bathrobe and slipped into the water for a soak.

Lying in the bathtub, Paige looked at the bruises scattered over her body. She was embarrassed and frustrated. Chris might look like a callous gentleman. However, he was a beast in bed.

She enjoyed a nice, long bath, which soothed her aching muscles. Then, Paige put on the bathrobe and walked out, intending to call her domestic help to deliver her clothes. Picking up on the sound of footsteps, she raised her head and saw Chris.

Paige was stunned.

For some reason, Paige turned red in the face.

Chris’ presence reminded Paige of the intimacy the night before.

His gaze made her face blush and her heart race.

“You’re up,” Chris said faintly.

Paige pulled herself together and gave a nod. Only God knew how fast her heart thumped and how stiff her body was.

“There are clothes on the sofa,” Chris said.

Paige looked over, guessing that Chris was talking about clothes for her. “Oh.” She approached Chris.

Since the clothes were not on the bedroom sofa, they must be in the living room.

Chris stood at the door, and Paige had to cross the door to get to the living room.

She drew close to Chris, but the towering build blocked the doorway.

Chris did not step aside even though he was in her way.

Paige was speechless.

Her face was red. She looked at Chris, not knowing what was going through his head.

Chris stared at Paige and asked, “Do you feel sore?”

Despite wanting to be honest, she was too embarrassed to talk about the discomfort. She shook her head with a blush.

Chris gave her a lingering look before nodding and turning his body to the side.
