Ch2: She is the only one I ever loved

In the middle of the night, I could not fall asleep. Chris's words were still playing in my mind.

Did I really make Xin give up on his girlfriend? But he should have said no if he did not like me! Why did he have to agree to marry me and then ask for a divorce later on?

Suddenly, my door was pushed open, and someone badged in. I sat up in fear, ready to scream.

But seeing that it was Xin, I sighed in relief. The only thing I did not understand was what he was doing in my room at such a time.

“I won't sign the divorce papers,” I began to say. That was the first thing that came to mind. I thought he was there to ask for it.

But he suddenly covered my mouth. “Shh!“ He said. “You are not allowed to say anything.“

I was shocked, but the strong stench of alcohol on him made me tremble. I tried pushing him away. “You are drunk,” I said.

For the one year that Xin and I were married, I had never seen him that drunk. Did he overdrink because he was celebrating his ex-girlfriend's return?

But he shook his head. “Noo! I am not drunk,” he said, pressing me on the bed beneath him.

My heart began racing as he looked into my eyes. For a second, I did not know how to react. He had never taken the initiative to touch me.

“Xin… you…” I tried to speak, but he pressed his lips against mine and began kissing me.

At that time, I wasn't sure if that was supposed to be a good thing or not. He was finally willing to touch me! But also, it was at a time when he was asking for a divorce.

“I have done you a lot of wrong. I am sorry,” Xin said, and his hands began moving over me.

“Xin! Stop!“ I shouted and tried to stop him. But he pinned me down. I could not match the energy of a drunk man.

“It is fine! I really want you,” he said, going through with what he wanted. "I want to make it up for you."

In the morning, when I woke up, the place beside me on the bed was empty. But I could not forget what had happened at night.

For the first time in the one year that I was married, my husband touched me. But that was not the only thing.

I sighed angrily when I remembered the name that he had called before he fell asleep.

Skye! That was it.

It was then that I realized that he had come to my room by mistake. The woman he wanted to be with was Skye!

Not sure about what to do, I dragged my sore body to the washroom and cleaned up. It hurt everywhere.

But my heart was in more pain. There was no one to comfort me. There was no one I could talk to.

It seemed like all that time, the only person he thought about was Skye! Anyway, she was his life savior, and maybe someone with a better status than me.

I walked to the restaurant that Chris had told me about with a beating heart. I was praying that I didn't find something that would break my heart more.

I looked around carefully, then I saw them. At the corner, there were Xin and a woman. I knew that it was his ex-girlfriend.

But what shocked me was the smile on Xin's face. I had never seen him smile after our marriage.

He acted so sweetly and happily. I watched as he helped put food on the girl's plate and even wiped the food at the corner of her lips.

My heart went cold. I had never received that kind of treatment from him. In fact, I was the one who always tried to be nice to him.

I had always overlooked my own happiness for him. I burned my fingers trying to cook food for him. I did not sleep until late at night just to wait for him.

I never asked him a question when he did not talk to me. He had never even taken me to meet his family.

A tear fell from my eyes as I took a step forward. I just wanted to make sure that I was not seeing the wrong person.

“Xin?“ I called, and tears fell from my eyes when I saw that it was actually him.

He was shocked to see me. He stood up with a start and looked at me. “What are you doing here?“ He asked.

I shook my head and looked at the girl seated opposite me. She was looking at me with a questioning gaze.

“Who is she?“ She asked with raised brows. I could tell that she looked down on me.

Xin held her hand softly. “Don't worry, I will handle this,” he said.

I looked at his hand on top of the girl's, and my stomach chunned. I was very stupid.

He roughly grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the restaurant. “What do you want? Did you sign the divorce papers?“ He asked coldly.

I laughed sadly. The tone he used on me was very different from the one he had used on that girl. He surely hated me.

“Are you still going to divorce me after yesterday night?“ I asked with a shiver.

And he quickly shook his head. “Yesterday was a mistake. I was drunk, and I don't remember anything. Forget it ever happened,” he said, his voice serious.

“Huh! I expected the same,” I said, wiping away my tears. “I only want you to answer me one question.“

He looked at me, and I knew he was ready to hear the question. “Do you love her?“ I asked.

He was silent for a while before he nodded. “That's not a secret. She is the only one I ever loved.“

A lump formed on my throat, but I still nodded. “Mmh, I understand,” I said, turning around to leave. There was no need to waste any more time there.
