Eight

Melina's POV

The room was quiet except for the soft hum of the air conditioning unit. Sunlight filtered through the window blinds, casting eerie shadows on the walls. I lay there with my eyes open, staring up at the ceiling. I let out a deep sigh as I felt a wave of exhaustion wash over me.

As I lay there in the dimly lit room, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions as memories of the day flooded my mind. On one hand, I was relieved that Dwane had left the room and I was now alone. On the other hand, I felt a tinge of disappointment that he hadn't stayed longer to keep me company – I was just beginning to get comfortable around him.

I let out a deep sigh and slowly sat up on the bed, stretching my arms above my head. As I did, my eyes caught sight of a small teddy bear on the nightstand next to me. I smiled, picked it up, and held it close to my chest, feeling comforted by its softness and scent.
