Chapter 3

Under the scrunitising gaze of his mom, Chris felt like a little boy who was scolded for his mistakes.

It seemed the same as when we got caught for stealing cookies when he was little.

When his mind compared both the scenes, he was startled by his own thoughts

“Mom….” Chris stretched his words unable to say something.

When you needed the brain to think the most important excuse, where the hell did it go.

He struggled internally to come up with a perfect excuse, since the reason last time he gave his mom utterly failed.. it was a disaster.

Diana started her filmy drama last time making Chris to think that whether he should laugh or cry seeing his mom.

Diana sensed that her son was going to cook up some fake story to convince her, didn’t give him the chance to say anything.

Because she knows her son too well… that stupid boy would come up with excuses and distract her, to escape from her clutches.

So this time she didn’t want to give him any chances.

“Don’t mom me, young man. You are not getting any younger…and me too.

I’m not getting any younger too, though I’m not looking old, my age increases right. I’m just saying.

Even though I look young and beautiful, women my age are playing with their grand children, yet I didn’t even see a single girl by my son’s side.

Think about my poor little heart. It’s yearning for my future grand babies.

Think about how hurt my heart felt when I saw those ladies with cute little children in the park walking by their side, calling them ‘grandma’ with their sweet and innocent voice.

I was nearly tempted to kidnap a little kid to take him home with me…then I controlled myself” sighed Diana heavily due to her continuous ranting.

She was proud of her great self control.

Chris was both startled and amused by his mom’s revelation.

He tried his very best to try to not to laugh at his mom's antics.

He concealed his laugh by biting his inner cheeks and smirked at his mom.

If his mom caught him laughing, while she was ranting….Oops

sorry….speaking..Yeah speaking, then it’s like he signed his own death note…he would be a gone man by then.

Trying to maintain a straight face, which was becoming a challenging task at the moment, he stopped his mom’s ranting.

“Mom …..Mom..OK stop. You are young and beautiful ..I know that. Now don’t beat around the bush. What do you want to say….tell me straight.”

Stopped by her son’s voice, Diana took a second to catch her breath.

Raising an eyebrow,” am I sensing a sarcasm here my dear son” enquired Diana.

“No mom .. absolutely not. Now tell me what you wanted to say”.

"that's what I thought".

But when Diana saw a ghost of a smile on her son's face, she exploded again.

“Don’t try to outsmart me young man. I’m your mother. I raised you.

I know you from even before you wore your nappies.

So don’t try to play your word tricks on me. I’m your mother, not your business opponents!!

They won’t work on me!! Did I make myself clear” roared Diana.

“yes mom”.chris sighed heavily.

‘Ask parents to remember and point out all those embarrassing childhood memories to threaten their children even at their smallest mistakes' thought Chris.

“What was I saying….ah…yes… you are not getting any younger…so quickly find a girl to date….marry her…give me grand kids….i want to marry off my grand kids” exclaimed Diana.

“Mom stop it..Stop your train of thoughts right there.

What wedding??…..What grand kids???

Forget about my marriage, I didn’t even have a girl to call as my girlfriend yet.

And your are planning your grandkids marriage…please….hold your horses. Please spare your poor son some slack”. Chris was bewildered by his mom’s thoughts.

‘my god!!! Women’s brain can think complicated things…but my Mom’s thinking by far is the most complicated and complexed one, I have ever encountered. Mom’s thoughts can be scary**slight shiver**' thought Chris.

“That why I’m telling you to marry soon. So I can marry of my grandkids “grumbled Diana.

“you are saying as if I can buy a girl to date in the super market. It’s not that easy!!!!”

“I know it’s not easy. That’s why, I’m telling you to find a girl soon….get married and settle down honey or else I will arrange a blind date for you” threatened Diana.

Hearing his mom’s serious tone, he know that his mom was worried about him. So he began to console her.

“ OK mom…don’t worry ..I’ll think about it..Don’t stress yourself….These stress lines are not looking good on you… you are getting less beautiful….

then how can I brag that my mom is the most beautiful women on my wedding day” joked Chris to lighten the mood of his mom.

Diana playfully slapped his shoulder. Then gave a slight glare to her teasing son.

”if you care about my looks , then bring me a girl ASAP…and on your wedding day, you won’t be saying that I’m beautiful…I know…you would be flattering your wife….all men are same. I know.” Diana sniffed and wiped her fake tears..

“OK….ok……I will do say you say DRAMA QUEEN. now go and sleep, I will eat by myself. Don’t bother yourself”.

Chris kissed Diana’s cheek and shoved her out of the kitchen.

“Goodnight honey. Sleep tight” came Diana’s fading voice.
