Chapter 66: Peace

Clara’s POV

“This may sound insensitive but did you already accept the fact that your child is,” Ellie said but didn’t finish her sentence.

“I already did but Erik doesn’t,” I said softly. Ellie looked at me with a sad expression. I smiled at her and looked down at my hands that were resting on the table.

“He still looks for our child, he tries to hide it but it was pretty obvious and I just stayed quiet,” I said sadly at Ellie.

“Maybe because you still have some hope within you that your child is alive,” Ellie said.

“Maybe, but I do believe he is gone and I accepted that already,” I said and Ellie rushed to my side to hug me. I didn’t even notice that I was already crying.

Ellie hugged me while she was standing. Smelling and feeling her warmth reminded me of my mother and I cried until no tears were left for me to cry. “You’ve been through a lot and I thank you for not giving up” Ellie whispered and touched my head.
