Chapter 5 A Love Rival Appears

Violet glanced at the bodyguards standing beside her out of the corner of her eye. They remained still the whole time.

Slowly, she stepped out of line and headed toward the door. As soon as she pushed it open, four bodyguards stopped her. Instinctively, she dodged out of their grasp.

Before she could feel smug about it, she suddenly felt a shiver down her spine.

Looking back, she saw Carl walking toward the door with Whitney.

When Whitney saw Violet, she opened her mouth to call out, but then she closed it again. She winked and smiled mischievously at Violet.

"What are you trying to do?" Reed demanded.

"I need to go to the bathroom," Violet answered.

"You're not allowed to enter the villa unless there's an emergency," Reed said sternly. "Settle your personal needs in your own room."

Violet did not answer him. She stood there meekly while she wracked her brain for a way to get to Whitney.

"Do you understand me?" Reed yelled.

Seeing that her attempt to stall for time failed, Violet relented. "Yes, I understand."

She turned back and headed toward the door.

Seeing her innocent expression, Carl stepped up. With an air of arrogance, he said, "Wait."

Violet stopped and turned to look at him.

Where danger lay, so did opportunity. Violet did not want to give up on this opportunity.

"Yes, Mr. Walker?" She had a small smile on her face as she spoke.

"Drive us to the Monarch Hotel," Carl ordered.

Violet was delighted. By "us," Carl had included Whitney.

Whitney was also happy with Carl's decision. She hadn't seen her mother for the entire day, so she missed her too.

The Monarch Hotel was the biggest hotel in Zeloth. There were many people there, so Violet could easily cause a commotion and take Whitney away.

Fuck the contract. She signed under the name "Vincent." As long as she denied everything, Carl wouldn't be able to hold anything against her.

Carl and Whitney sat in the back of the car while Violet drove. She kept a close eye on Carl, worried that he would take a liking to her darling daughter.

"Carl, why aren't you talking to me? Do you hate me?" Whitney sat on Carl's lap and blinked up at him.

Violet turned pale. Whitney was very cute. Even strangers would ask to hug her and play with her when they were out. But Violet was very worried now that Whitney was in Carl's arms.

Carl looked down at Whitney briefly, then looked back up again.

Whitney poked him in the ribs. She knew that when her mommy poked her like that, she would laugh uncontrollably.

Carl did not react at all. If anything, he looked sterner.

"Carl." Whitney fluttered her eyelashes at him. "Why are you ignoring me? Do you not want me around?"

When she still didn't get an answer, she wrinkled her nose and pouted.

"Lavender’s green, dilly, dilly. Lavender’s blue, I've got no mommy, dilly, dilly. And no daddy too," Whitney sang sweetly, changing the words to the nursery rhyme.

Violet paled further. Whitney was ignoring her presence.

Carl looked at her dangerously. "Are you really an orphan? You told me that your daddy died, and you got separated from your mommy. "

Whitney nodded. Her pigtails bobbed with the motion. "Yes, as real as gold."

This was one of Novya's pet phrases. Violet almost drove the car into an electric pole when she heard that.

"You're lying," Carl said softly. "If you are an orphan, then why were your clothes clean when I first met you? You even smell nice."

Violet was getting more and more worried at the conversation. Seriously, she couldn't leave them alone with each other!

A man as cold and overbearing as Carl wouldn't allow Whitney to stay by his side. He obviously knew that she had been lying to him, after all.

If he wasn't a pedophile, then he must have thought Whitney was here for other reasons.

Either way, Whitney was in danger.

Most importantly, Violet was unsettled about how Carl knew Whitney smelled nice.

Whitney stuck her tongue out at him and said mischievously, "I like you!"

Carl smiled. It was very normal for someone to like him.

Worried that her mommy would be jealous, Whitney wriggled over to the space between the front seats. Then, she said to Violet, "I love you too!"

Violet gave her a death glare in return. Once she brought Whitney home, she needed to teach her a good lesson!

When they arrived at the Monarch Hotel, Whitney held onto Carl's hand tightly. They made an eye-catching pair.

"How cute!"

"Look at what she's wearing. She's so trendy!"

"She looks so sweet. I want to pinch her cheeks."

Whitney smiled widely when she heard these praises. She even waved at her admirers, who gathered around her as if she was a celebrity.

Carl glanced at Whitney. This little girl was cheeky to the point of being brazen. He didn't like how she was poaching his fans from him.

A rich lady hugged Whitney and refused to let go. "Baby, can you give me a kiss? I'll give you anything you want."

"No." Whitney refused. "I can only kiss Mommy, Daddy, and my boyfriend."

Everyone laughed at that. Seeing Carl walking away, Whitney quickly said her goodbyes and followed him.

They entered the best room the hotel had to offer. There was already a beautiful woman sitting inside.

"Carl!" The woman stepped up and tried to hug Carl.

Whitney got anxious instantly and quickly put herself between them.
