Emily's point of view:
The next thing to happen was that he led me to one of the seats, as he was helping me to sit like a gentleman. The whole scene got my heart shaking, as that karma was finally on my side. Yet, I started doubting the reasons he was treating me that way. I mean, the man who was threatening Lucia has nothing to do with the gentleman in front of me.
...............
" What's your name?" He asked, and I answered right away, since the last thing I want is to piece him off. " Emily... My name is Emily!"
" Mine is Daniel ... Daniel Knight!" He answered a question that I didn't ask.
" Pleased to know ... Mr, knight!" This was all I could come up with since I didn't know what to say.
" Please, just call me Daniel Emily!" He said and I only nodded my head.
" So tell me where are you from?" He asked, and I got a bit curious about his aim. So, I answered him with another question.
" What do you care for?"
I expected him to get angry at my attitude, especially that he was nothing but nice to me - which seems to be unusual for him.
" Nothing to do, I'm just curious because you remind me of someone I met a while ago at the California Diamond Bar !"
At the right moment, I started feeling a bit awkward since I really was from California, Diamond Bar. So, I decided not to say a thing. Not before he asked again.
" Still waiting for your answer."
" I'm from Ohio! I moved on to New York City a while ago." I lied, not being sure if I wanted to tell him the truth. He also seemed not to believe me.
" Sure about that?" He asked, and before I answered him, Lucia's presence saved me. It was my first time ever being happy to see her. I can't say that she has the same feeling. Her face was all about hatred while serving me.
The exact look on her face brought terror inside of me, it's probably going to be my last time stepping here. She's going to fire me, and I will lose my only source of money.
" Don't worry about it here!" Exclaim Daniel as he noticed the terror on my face." She can't do anything to you."
" You think?" I asked him, not sure that he knew what was talking about." I'm sure she's going to kick me out of here the moment you leave." I told him honestly what I was thinking about. He chuckled as he stated,
" If you're that sure about it, then why not leave with dignity?"
" Easy for you to say, people like me who can hardly afford their living don't think much about dignity." I ran my head through my hair before I finally told him. " Life can not always be fair!"
I don't know if it's real, or if I was just making it up, but for a while, I felt as if he was taken by what I've said.
" Tell me about your educational level first!"
For some reason, this exact question made me feel shy. So instead of answering, I decided to ask a question this time.
" I don't see the reason why you keep asking me all these questions. How about you tell me about this sudden interest you have in me?"
With a creepy smile on his face, he answered.
" In case you forgot... I am the one who asks here. All you have to do is to answer."
Challenging him would be more than just a stupid idea. I decided to answer him while telling the truth, though I hate it. " I stopped before reaching high school."
" Interesting!" He says while studying my actions. " Why?"
" Do I have to answer?" I asked him. I mean, those are private matters; and I'm not feeling comfortable sharing such matters.
" Indeed, you have to?" He simply said, and I was like " Why?"
He again repeated that he was the one asking, and I shall only answer.
" My mother died, and my father started a new life, which I'm not part of. So, instead of growing up in an orphanage I just ran away looking for my own path." I told him the truth. I mean, part of the truth.
My answer seemed to wake something inside of him. He then switched from the gentleman he was pretending to be to a monster.
His hand captured my wrist, while his eyes started screaming danger before he started.
" If there's something I hate the most, it would be liars. Next time when I ask you about something, I wouldn't want to hear anything less than the truth." I wasn't telling him any lies. I mean, that kind of happened.
" You're hurting me!" I told him, then he came to notice his action. He then let go of me as he decided on coming back to his modern self.
" I do apologize for my behavior, but I sort of lose it whenever I come across someone who's trying to fool me."
All I did was to keep rubbing my hands, not saying anything else. Again, he was the one breaking the silence.
" Now tell me! Where are you from? Remember, I don't want any lies." His speech was firm, not leaving any space for me to think twice.
"California, Diamond Bar..."
He smiled in a weird way before he stood up. He was leaving; I guess. And as I thought I was finally free, he decided on dragging me out with him.
" I don't think you have the right to..." Before I was able to get my sentence done he let go of my hands, then stepped a step toward me while I was trying to step back away from him. While struggling to stay away, I lost control over myself, and instead of stealing back, I was about to fall down. Again, I was saved by Daniel.
He then got to my ears while whispering,
" I have all the rights I need, cupcake! Unless you want to spend the rest of the day with her, I suggest you follow me." He said while pointing at Lucia, and for a while - following him seemed to be a quietly good idea.
It might seem a bit stupid to follow a stranger... Believe me, after what happened here this morning. It's way safer for me to follow Daniel than to keep up with Lucia.
Emily's point of view: It might seem a bit stupid to follow a stranger... Believe me, after what happened here this morning. It's way safer for me to follow Daniel than to keep up with Lucia. ............. I followed the so-called Daniel to his BMW black mat car, not that I did have any other choice. Then I noticed that he sent off the guy that was supposed to be the driver I guess, which was a bit of an abnormal act. I stood still, not wanting to move any further. Meanwhile, Daniel was heading toward the driver's seat. As he settled himself, he came to notice that I wasn't following anymore. " Waiting for an invitation? Or do you want me to open the door for you?" It wasn't a question more than it was an irony in itself. I rolled my eyes at that sort of behavior. This man has a real sort of issue, once he's a gentleman and in another, he has nothing to do with the word 'gentleman'. " All I want is to know where do you want me to go with you? Otherwise, I can't go with someone
Emily's point of view: The old lady's name turned out to be Violetta, she's one of the few people that know Daniel closely. Of course from the day he introduced me to her, he never showed up. I was informed that I have to visit the lady each day from morning till afternoon, this whole month. When this month is over, Daniel will come to check my progress. Well, since I lost my job Daniele decided on sending me some money. This was all I was informed about from Violetta before I checked on my bank account to discover that 100 000 dollars were added to my account. This is more than even what I want to earn in the whole year. Neither Violetta nor I know the reason why I was receiving such treatment from Daniel, nor the reason why he wanted her to fix me so that I'll look like one of these high-level ladies asking her. So far, I'm only following rules which is something I'm used to. Of course, I like it here better than when I was working with Lucia. I mean, the only thing I'm doing
Daniel's point of view: I can't believe that I've finally found her, even when I wasn't looking for her - she was lacking a piece of my unfinished game. She was always the solution to all of my problems, even when I never thought about her. I can't notice the fact that she doesn't seem able to recognize or remember who I am - which sort of serves my needs. That also helps me to confirm that she will probably not be able to remember Ethan either. She was quite young when they left, about eight-nine years old. The reason why she can't remember who we are. I mean, even at her mother's funeral, we kept watching her from afar, but none of us dared to speak to her. Back then, I didn't care about speaking to her - but since it was Ethan's orders; I was forced to follow. For sure, you would be asking who's that Emily girl I'm talking about. That's an old story to tell, yet I'm in the mood to talk... Emily Carter was our neighbors' daughter. Though Ethan and Ethan were the same age, she
Emily's point of view:It was already a whole month, I can't totally recognize myself. The way I talk, walk, speak, dress up, and even eat - isn't the same anymore. It's kind of reminds me of who I was in a while - in a long time while. It's a life that I hate to think about since I believe it's not going to be back ever again. All I know now is that I have no one but myself, and if I want to survive, I need to be a fighter.Today actually I was a day off from Violette's lessons, so I decided to spend the day only at home. Not that I've had any other choice. I don't have friends, and I never had one. When we moved from I used to actually think that someone was my friend when I was young. The truth is that he never was. I've tried to reach him several times when I was young, but his family never agreed to let me in - they quietly believe that I'm not at their level. The thing that hurt me the most was that all these years, and he never trie
Emily's point of view:After the rain, there is a rainbow...Well, the rain that rained on my life brought nothing but a storm. A storm that destroyed everything I used to have. By running away, I thought that I was safe from this storm. Not until a drop from that followed me to where I was hiding. Daniel, the kid in the picture is the same Daniel Kight in front of my sight. He wasn't looking the same as what I do remember. Of course, when I left he was a boy - now he's a man.I gather all sorts of power I'm having, then I stand to face the devil that standing before of my sight before I pushed him away." What do you want?" I asked him while looking deep into his eyes, and he simply says without breaking his eye contact with me." I'm here as an old friend, to help you..." I didn't wait for him to finish what he was saying before I snapped at him." You and friend are to words that I can't accept u
Emily's point of view:The present timePreviously from the first chapter." I don't care about what she has done or was about to do, all I care about is what you're here for." After he was done speaking, I only nod my head, not beating to add anything else since I know that everything I would say would only get him mad." The interview would mean nothing. I've already arranged for you to be accepted. All you have to do is to make sure not to get kicked out. This would be our last and only interaction together in here. Make sure you don't get yourself into trouble..."This was all he says before the elevator's door was opened.............I followed to where he was going until we reached one office, then wi
Emily's point of view:When I reached home, and I got to say - my home sweet home. The first I've done was to take a cold shower to refresh my body. The water running out of the shower landing on my body did not less than to help me relax, as it gave me that sort of being alive after a sort of exhausting day.The day was a bit intense, seeing the way I was treated by Daniel, but everything eventually ended up in a fine way since I got the job without even trying - and the most important thing is that I did it without causing any trouble.I actually was informed that I would get it easily, especially that Daniel convinced the previous P.A to leave as he provided her with a better job. I don't what could be the better job that could've beat being part of " La source de beauté". Anyway, it's her loss. The thing is that I had to keep at the job as longest as I could be which is a bit hard. First, because I don't know how's going to be
Emily's point of view: Well, my act to gather myself ended up being a failure as he seemed to notice that I was checking him. I tried my best to understand what he was talking about as I focused on the last sentence he started. " ... so I decided to say hello!" Then he extended his hand, showing me a pie dish. " What's this?" I asked him and he started laughing. " As I said before, I saw you early this morning going out - and I learn that you're my new neighbor. My name is Patrick, and I live right next to you, that exact door." He pointed with his head to the door. "I was just thinking to say Hy, and I brought thin with me." I didn't know what to say or to do. I mean, should I just say thanks and move on by closing my door, or that would be rude? I shall probably invite him to drink something. But if I did, Daniel would get mad at me. Well, he would get mad only if he knows that it won't happen. " It's such a lovely gesture from you, Patrick! My name is Emily, and I'm pleased
