Devon wiped at the blood coming from a cut above his eyes, with a massive paw, so he could see. The moment his sight focused, he caught a glimpse of Tabatha and Kriss vanishing from the scene and knew he and Envy would have to leave soon as well. The blood ran back into his eyes and he sighed knowing he was going to have to shift back to human form, if he wanted to stop the bleeding.

Envy felt the fur she was clinging to vanish, instantly replaced by smooth skin. Opening her eyes, she was shocked to find herself sitting in Devon’s lap, facing him.

What little bit of breath she had left in her lungs was forced out when he pulled her into a restraining hug. She opened her mouth to start demanding answers but was startled into silence, when his hands gripped her shoulders and pushed her back far enough, so he could see her face and neck.
