“So how is it recording with your husband?” I ask April after the interview. The staff were packing up the equipment and Cassie went out for a bit to take care of some stuff.

“It’s fun.” April says, smiling. “He’s very supporting especially during the times that I don’t feel like doing anything at all. I would be like, I don’t want to work today and he’d push me towards the practice room and tell me to go do my vocal warm ups.”

I chuckled while imagining the scene. So there were times that even the great April Hale doesn’t want to sing.

“And it is fun creating the harmonies with him, you know.” April added, clearly thinking about him. Is this how people who are in love look like? “You’re giving me that look.”

“What look?” I ask her, surprised by what she said.

“That, she’s obviously in love, look in your face.” She
