Chapter 13: Jasper's Sweet Little Gesture

“Don’t think about him because he didn’t like you then. I like you...” Jasper said it to me. I whirled to face him. “I’d like to treat you. Do you like fish balls?”

Jasper said, making me smile. “Fishball?”

“Yes, if you want to.”

I gave him a kind smile and a nod in response. Somehow, my “yes” seemed to satisfy him, and I had no idea why. At first, we hung around by his college’s food carts.

“Boss, a fishball worth twenty,” Jasper said to the vendor.

The vendor said while taking a glimpse in my direction, “Your handsomeness is incredibly different, boss. You have another woman with you.”

Using a paper cup and a stick, Jasper took a fishball out of the skillet.

“Watch out, boss. She might believe what you say in the end.” Jasper chuckled. Jasper gave me a sideways look. “He’s only trying to annoy, so don’t take him seriously.”

I grin. We stepped to the side and ate what Jasper had purchased after he had a fishball. I gave the vendor a cursory look; in contrast to his previous banter
