I lifted Quinn into the warm tub, soaped up a flannel, and gently started to wash her. She was frozen down to the bone, and for the first time since it all started, she complained about being cold. “I killed the witch?” she asked for the hundredth time.

“Yes.”

“And Sebastian is okay?”

“Yes.” I checked on him before I came to bed.

“I reached out to your aunt’s witch, Gretchen,” I said. “Do you know her?”
