Alicia's POV

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," Ella said as she let go of my hand.

"Why did you come here?" I asked her right away.

"I checked your room, but you weren't there. So I searched and found you here," Ella answered.

"Alright," I agreed, letting out a sigh.

"Someone could easily spot you here. I heard footsteps approaching, which is why I quickly hid you. We should go from here quickly," Ella recommended. We both walked on our toes into my room and gently shut the door.

"How long were you listening?" I asked, wanting to make sure she hadn't been listening in, just like I had been earlier.

"Listening? Were they saying something secret? Is there something happening in the palace?" she inquired, and then I understood that she hadn't heard any of the conversation. I let out a sigh of relief.
