Chapter 5

20 YEARS LATER

Le Faye sat on the cushion of the penthouse suite.

The suite had floor to ceiling windows framing the panoramic view of Italy's skyline.

She was clad in an all white attire.

Her jumpsuit white, as well as a white shoe which matched the white Versace bag she carried with her on the cushion where she sat. The biggest brand of Italy, reserved only for the richest and elites who could afford the limited editions.

Her hair was silky and as dark as ebony.

On one wall of the room was a decor wedding photos of she and an elderly man who had smiled his hearts out on the wedding day, evident on the photos that hung on the wall.

They had numerous photos together and they were all able to cover the whole side wall that pillared the massive suite of the penthouse.

She pressed on her mobile phone which she held in her hand.

Her phone pouch screamed class and the titanium cover of her phones back displayed that she used the latest iPhone 20, the limited series of the iPhone brand that had not yet being introduced to the public yet.

She went to her G****e app to search on a name.

She did not type it.

The name was already in the list of her most recent and frequently visited page.

She tapped on it and it read;

"Will the Montenegro Family allow their son-in-law to become the new governor of Montenegro?"

Various media houses from Montenegro, a state countries and miles away from Italy published alot of articles concerning the topic.

Most media hours questioned if they'd allow a non-Montenegro by birth take over the Governorship of the state of Montenegro since Marcus Montenegro and his son, Theodore Montenegro had ruled the state for 20 years.

Lucas did not have much supporters. Even in the People's Progressive Party which belonged to his father in law, speculations were still being made whether he'd be allowed to be the Governorship flag bearer since he was not a billionaire like the Montenegro's but a second class citizen who found himself lucky to be wedded by the governor's "precious daughter" like the media houses always published.

She logged out of the G****e app page she was in and logs to her files.

She opened the file on Lucas Elizalde.

He was a lawyer 10 years ago before his marriage to the only daughter of the Montenegro's, after which he changed professions and became a politician.

He was 2 years younger than Genevieve Montenegro, and he came from a middle class home. This had made eyes turn when the news of their wedding broke the internet. Many bad wondered what made her marry a poor man billion pounds far from her social standing, many had wondered whether he was the one that married her or the other way around as he seemed rather too poor to handle a woman such as Genevieve.

He had only his aged mother as his next of kin. He had no child with Genevieve even though it had already been 10 years of their marriage.

Currently, he was being speculated of being the Governorship flag bearer of the People's Progressive Party, the political party founded by Marcus Montenegro.

Though there were other opponents, most speculated that he would be the next in line after his brother in laws tenure ends in a few months time.

"I will make you the governor" she muttered under he breathe, inaudible, not even enough to to the hearing of her PA that stood mikes away from her in the suite.

She logged out of her files storage and opened her G****e App page again and clicked the second name that was on her search list.

"Genevieve Montenegro"

Not much was said about her by most Media Houses as she did not join her father's political party.

She was the head of the party's external foundation, which served as an independent foundation on it's own, selling Art Pieces and helping Orphanages for public show and appraisal.

What struck out amongst all the tabloids that were always published about her was how she valued her marriage and her wedding to her "darling husband", like she always called him in all their interviews.

To the world, It seemed that her marriage was her biggest treasure and deep within her, she resolved to squash it.

Her right hand started folding and forming a fist when she started to scroll down through her latest photos published by Vogue Montenegro.

Her hate increased when she saw her smiling and looking at her husband who stared directly into the camera.

This angered her so much that she threw away her phone.

Her PA has rushed immediately to her, offering her a bottle of water to calm her nerves down since he was already more used to seeing her in such a mood after seeing or searching anything concerning the Montenegro's..

He never bothered to ask her why not the reasons as all of them knew... All her workers did and she had mandated a one week mourning every month to mourn the death of her parents who died in the most brutal way 20 years ago

He picked up the phone and ran back to where he stood before, careful not to disturb her feelings or make her break down since anytime she saw the photos of Genevieve nor her family smiling, she always got angry and they were skeptical of not being the reasons her tears started to drop.

When he reached where he had stood before, he had placed a message across to the iPhone Production Company to package another iPhone 20 for his mistress since she did not repeat phones after she broke any of them.

She stood up and went over to the glass table that stood by the side of the wall window. She picked the passport and flight tickets that were dropped there on the table and stared at them for a while.

"We can't travel before next month?" She questioned her PA who stood across.

"No ma'am, I couldn't secure the tickets. Flights to Montenegro from Italy happens twice per month, unfortunately, I came late when I wanted to purchase ours. "So we're booked for the first flight next month going immediately to Montenegro. I could have suggested we use your private jet ma'am, but since you want to reduce carbon emissions and an advocate of low carbon emission, I decided against it and waited for the next flight so we'd travel like other people" he thoroughly thoughtfully explained.

" That's good"

" Thank you ma'am"

" You're good"

" Thank you ma'am"

" Keep it up, being thoughtful"

" Thank you ma'am" he kept bowing and muttering. He smiled.

She was always nice, not just to him but every of her workers.

She had saved him from his former boss who fired him because he had failed to get the last limited release Adidas Sneakers.

When she saw him slap him, she had been angered and had cancelled the documents she came to his office to sign for their partnership.

She had also employed him right then in the presence of hus former boss who stood transfixed at what had happened too.

"Support Lucas Elizalde, make him the next Governorship flag bearer of the People's Progressive Party, make him the new governor of Montenegro" she added.

He bowed.

Whoever Lucas was to get on her good books, his life was about to get simpler, he thought to himself.
