SONIA POV.
I stood in the garden just as the note had instructed, waiting for him to come to see me. The garden was quiet, and there wasn't a single person in sight. All the housekeepers were inside, busy preparing and decorating for my big day, which was set to start in two hours. I waited for a few more minutes, hoping for Michael to show up, but he never did. I cursed myself for falling for his prank. Michael had always been mischievous as a child, and sixteen years later, he still managed to play tricks on me.I turned to leave when a voice stopped me.“Leaving so soon?” he called out. His voice, no longer the playful tone I remembered, now possessed a depth and allure that sent shivers down my spine. It was deep, commanding yet incredibly sexy.I swallowed hard, struggling to compose myself before facing him.But when I did, the sight before me took my breath away. His body, and his face, both exuded a mesmerizing allure, as if he were a God descended from the heavens. If I thought his voice was sexy, his body was devilishly handsome and sinful. At that moment, he seemed to embody everything I had ever desired: strength, beauty, and an undeniable magnetism that left me spellbound.Michael wore a smug look and stretched his arms wide. “You like what you see?”I frowned. He was still as cocky and annoying as ever.“I have seen better,” I hissed. This time, Michael let out a loud, long laugh. “I doubt that. You haven’t seen a good looking man in over a decade,” he said.“How can you be so sure?” I hissed back.“It would be impossible to find someone as attractive as me. Besides, you wouldn’t be drooling over me if you had. Not even your fiancé can elicit the kind of reaction from you like I do,” he taunted. He was right. Kelvin was an older man, twice my age, but at least I knew he was smarter and less cocky.“You did not call me here to talk trash about my soon to be husband, did you?” I frowned.Michael’s silly expression disappeared, replaced by seriousness. “I miss you, my cherry.”I frowned at the nickname. As a child, I was always red faced, and Michael coined the name “Cherry,” refusing to call me by my real name. I hated it then, and I hated it now.“Stop calling me that,” I hissed. Whenever I was around Michael, I lost all self-control and became volatile.“I can never stop calling you cherry. You still and will forever be my cherry,” he said as if making a vow, causing my cheeks to flush and my heart to race once again.“Look, you are turning red again, cherry,” he smirked.“Goodbye,” I scoffed, marching out of the garden. I questioned why I thought it was a good idea to come see him in the first place.“Sonia, wait,” Michael called out.His words had a surprising effect on me, causing me to stop in my tracks.“I know you miss me,” he said huskily.“No, I don’t,” I tried to say firmly, but my voice came out as a weak whisper.Michael moved closer to me until he stood right behind me. I could feel his fresh breath on the top of my head, his heavy breathing mirroring my own. It felt as though an invisible thread was tying us together, and neither of us wanted to walk away.I closed my eyes as his hands touched my skin, sending shivers down my spine. Exhaling softly, I felt him swipe my hair to the side, gently caressing my neck, the exact spot where my soon-to-be husband would place his mark.“If you didn’t miss me, Cherry, you would not be standing right next to me. You wouldn’t have even come to see me in the first place,” he said, his voice low and seductive.I shook my head slowly. “I only wanted to see you out of curiosity.”“Don’t lie to yourself, Sonia. We are the only ones here. Don’t be afraid to admit your true desires,” he urged.“My only desire is to marry my husband and become Alpha,” I said firmly.Michael stiffened at my words and roughly turned me to face him. “Do you love that man?” he growled.“He’s part of my destiny, my fate, and my dreams,” I answered calmly.I wasn’t going to let such childish feelings destroy my lifelong dreams.“That’s not my answer,” he scoffed. “Don’t deny it.”I wanted to say something to counter him when I heard my uncle’s voice.“Sonia! Where are you?” my uncle called out, his approaching footsteps audible in the garden.“Quickly, hide,” I panicked, pushing Michael away. But he wouldn’t budge; instead, he looked at me with pure amazement.“Why? We aren’t doing anything wrong?” Michael smirked. He clearly enjoyed seeing me panic.“How do you explain a bride talking alone with a man?” I hissed at him, pushing harder in an attempt to get him to leave.“I’m not leaving,” Michael said firmly. I was about to curse at him when my uncle entered the garden, spotting us together. Immediately, I created more distance between us.My uncle’s face turned into a frown. First, he looked at me, then at Michael, before turning his attention back to me.“What are you doing here? You should be preparing for your wedding,” he scolded, his voice controlled.“I just wanted to take some fresh air,” I answered quickly, eager to leave as fast as I could.“By spending time alone with the Lycan King. Forgive me, Your Majesty, but a bride should never be left alone with a man, much less with a bachelor like yourself,” my uncle said politely, though his words carried an underlying warning.“Sonia is safe with me, and if you are so worried about her being alone with a bachelor, I could claim her as mine,” Michael said, further angering my uncle.“She is engaged to someone else,” my uncle said through tight lips, then quickly added, “Sonia, let’s go back inside.”I was about to walk away, Michael held me back and whispered in my ear while his hand rested on my waist. It felt like he did it to spite my uncle, knowing fully well that no one dared question the Lycan King, as he was more powerful than us regular wolves.I swallowed hard, trying to balance myself, and glanced at him one last time before joining my uncle.Once we were at a safe distance from prying ears, my uncle spoke up again. “What did he say to you?”“He was only congratulating me on my wedding,” I said softly.“Are you lying to me, Sonia?”“No, uncle,” I replied, shaking my head while maintaining a composed demeanour.“Do not go anywhere near that Lycan King. He is cursed and only brings bad luck to everyone around him,” my uncle sneered. He harboured a deep hatred for Michael, as did most Alphas. Not only was Michael the most powerful and affluent Alpha in the underworld, but he was also known for his extreme cruelty and lack of mercy.I nodded, but my mind kept returning to what Michael had whispered to me in the garden.“If I were you, I would not trust your uncle or your soon to be husband,” he had warned.SONIA’S POV. I could not stop worrying about Micheal’s warning. I wondered what he meant when he said I shouldn't trust my Uncle and soon to be husband. My uncle was a strange man but surely I could trust him, afterall he had always wished for the best for me. The lady who tailored my dress returned to my room with my veil. “The wedding will commence in thirty minutes. You need to be fully dressed for your big day.”“Do you know anything about my husband?” I asked. The lady dropped the veil on the chair and came to face me. “I heard he is a kind man,” she said, her tone sounding generic. I could immediately tell she was lying.I tried again this time using a softer tone. “I’m just nervous,” I confessed softly, keeping my gaze down. “I wonder if he would like me. I have only spoken to him twice, and I’m not sure if he fancies me.”The lady softened, placing her hands on my shoulders. “Oh dear, I understand how you feel. I was a bride once and was equally nervous. But you, dear, hav
MICHEAL’S POV. I walked into the room where the first part of the wedding would commence. First, there was the traditional ball dance between the bride and groom or with a close relative. The crowd parted for me as I walked in; it was a rare sight to see me at such an event, and I knew everyone was wondering why I would want to attend the wedding of my enemies. But the answer was clear: He was giving away my Sonia to a man who did not deserve her.The ladies quickly gathered around me, a sight that stirred envy among the men who couldn’t match my power and beauty. They competed amongst themselves, vying for my attention, some displaying their charms in hopes of winning my favour and becoming my bride. However, none captivated me like Sonia. My gaze remained fixed on Sonia as she entered the room, her beauty as captivating as ever. Despite my reservations, I sat among the crowd, watching her being wed to the undeserving Kelvin. Knowing Kelvin and her uncle’s intentions were not noble,
SONIA’S POV.I went back to my bedroom to retouch my makeup before the official wedding ceremony began. I avoided my uncle and my soon to be husband after the dance because I could not dare to face them after the scandal I just created. Bella rushed into my room, and I anticipated her disappointment. Instead, she appeared strangely pleased. Locking the door behind her, she smiled widely at me.“And you said you did not care about the Lycan King?” Bella said, eyeing me up and down.“I don’t,” I said, keeping my gaze fixed ahead, refusing to meet her eyes.“I don’t believe you, not after what I just witnessed. You two were helplessly in love with each other,” Bella said. “It was like watching a fairy tale. I have never seen Michael be so gentle with anyone.”“It was just a dance, Bella. Drop it,” I hissed.Bella walked toward me, slamming her hand on my vanity table. “Why are you lying to yourself?”I sighed, dropping my makeup and turning to face her. “What difference does it make, Be
SONIA’S POV. Once we were a safe distance from my kingdom, I nudged his wolf, but he ignored me, so I tugged at his fur more forcefully, causing him to growl in irritation. He stopped running, letting me jump down from his large wolf form. I adjusted my wedding gown before bowing down as a sign of respect to the Lycan King and also for helping me out of my kingdom. "Thank you for saving me, but I can find my way," I said firmly, my head still lowered.Michael shifted into his human form and spoke, his voice commanding. "Look at me, Sonia.”I looked up to find him standing there, completely naked. His body was a work of art sculpted and adorned with scars, both large and small. Each scar told stories of battles fought and won. But what drew my attention the most was the intricate tattoo covering his left hand. I tore my gaze away from his body; I noticed his intense stare as if he could see through me.“What did you say, Cherry?” Michael’s voice was low, sending shivers down my spi
SONIA’S POV. My eyes fluttered open, and this time, I found myself lying under a tree. I turned to see Michael giving orders to his men. I shifted, placing my hand on my pounding head."You woke up just in time," Michael said as he strolled over to me.I frowned. "What's wrong with you? Kidnapping me is a serious crime, don't you know that?" I hissed."Shhhh... cherry," he hushed, squatting down and placing a finger on my lips. "This isn't the time to unleash all your anger on me. You need to conserve your strength. The drug is potent," he said gently, as if speaking to a child."If you hadn't shot me, I wouldn't be in this state," I scolded. He shrugged. "You are right, but it was the only way to bring you along.""And what makes you think I won't run away once I regain my strength?" I said, crossing my arms."Let me worry about that later," he sighed before standing up. "My men are out in the woods to find meat for us. We bought a couple of wines along, so we'll be able to have a d
SONIA’S POV. It was almost two hours after I drugged him. The bonfire had been extinguished, so I knew most of his guards were sleeping."Michael," I called out, tapping him multiple times, but he remained fast asleep and unaware of his surroundings. I removed his dagger from his side. It was finely crafted and must have cost a fortune. "Thank you. I will return it when I can," I muttered under my breath.A satisfied smile crossed my lips as I prepared to depart. Carefully, I crept away, ensuring not to disturb the sleeping guards or draw any unwanted attention to myself. Finally, out of sight, I broke into a swift but silent sprint, eager to put as much distance between us as possible.Suddenly, the bushes rustled loudly, and I could sense their presence; someone was watching me."Show yourself," I commanded, my hand instinctively reaching for my dagger.A figure emerged from the bush, but instead of preparing for a confrontation, they bowed respectfully before me. I quickly recogni
SONIA’S POV.I was bound by the hands like a prisoner as we made our way to the Lycan King's territory. Michael had not spoken to me since last night, and it made me uncomfortable. I wonder what was on his mind; was he going to punish me or, worse, kill me? He wouldn't kill me, right? After all, I had saved him when my pack guards tried to kill him and sacrificed my own chances of going back home. I had a higher chance of being forgiven when I ran away from the wedding, but now, the prospect of my family or pack accepting me seemed nearly impossible."Are you not going to say anything to me?" I asked, unable to bear the awkward silence any longer."Say something about what?" he responded calmly, still avoiding eye contact.I sighed. "About last night? Are you going to talk about it?" I pressed."No. There is nothing for me to discuss," he replied nonchalantly. But his response did not satisfy me. I wondered what was going on in his mind. I have heard tales of his cruelty and merciless
SONIA'S POV. I heard a knock on my door. "Go away," I yelled, hiding under the covers. But the knock did not cease. After a while, the door opened, and someone went to open the curtains, letting sunlight flood in. I whined, reluctantly opening my eyes to see who had disturbed my beauty sleep.Turning, I saw an older woman standing a few inches away from my bed."I want to be left alone," I hissed."Forgive me, Your Majesty, but I am afraid I can't do that. The Lycan King requests that we be of service to you," she answered politely."Uhn? What do you mean?" I asked, blinking sleepily as I sat upright on my bed.She clapped her hands once, and like clockwork, several maids entered the room, each carrying an array of items. One held a basket filled with bottles of essential oils, while another carried a bundle of soft, fluffy towels. The rest brought trays of carefully folded clothes, fresh linens, and various other amenities fit for royalty. They wasted no time, dragging me out of bed
