4. Did he just say honeymoon?

The moment my husband's soft but yet frigid voice erupted the whole living room, I could see Melinda flinch a bit but quickly straighten up and put on a bold look to face my husband. That little action of hers makes me wonder if she fears my husband despite her saucy and arrogant attitude. Well, no one wouldn't fear my husband... the man has a very powerful aura that can stiffen a person.

He took a glance at me before fixing his gaze on Melinda who tried to appear intrepid but her wavering eyes couldn't help her. Is this what my husband's presence could do to someone? Even Melinda who appeared so resolute a while ago now looks like a shivering lamb trying to hide in her shell.

“Jace... you are here," Melinda stutters with a nervous smile. I can feel the intensity of her voice, like, she's trying to appear valiant in front of this young man whose blank face can't give out any emotion at all, you just can't see through his eyes, they are so cold and icy that it could make someone shudder.

Even Hannah stood silent like a log and couldn't even make eye contact with my husband. I wonder why his presence puts everyone around him in fear.

“How dare you think that you can be rude to my wife," his husky voice couldn't discern any emotion but I was shocked to hear him say those words. Isn't this the same man that made me sleep on a couch last night and left me behind at the chapel after our wedding vows, a man that has been acting cold towards me since yesterday. My stunned eyes couldn't stare long at his rigid face which couldn't let off anything.

I saw the astonished look on Melinda's eyes, she opened her mouth to speak but no word left it. Just then I heard Mr William's voice.

“What's with this fuse?" he strode closer towards the living room as everyone acknowledged his presence by bowing down in greeting except my husband. Is he so full of himself to greet his grandfather?

“Grandfather, we were just trying to know the new bride better," Melinda was the one to reply and of course she just lied to Mr Williams, she's so subtle. I can see Hannah trying to speak but restricting herself. I am sure she wanted to blast Melinda's lie but I don't know why she held herself back.... maybe she likes to be reserved.

Mr Williams didn't say anything but moved closer to me with a warm smile. “Dear, you must be hungry... Come sit."

I returned the smile and followed his lead as we ambled towards the dining room which is close to the big living room. I was stunned as he drew out a seat for me, guess I'm not the only one, others were shocked too and of course except my husband who you can never predict what he feels in any situation... I've learned this about him in just this little time I've known him. No matter how I try, I can never read from those icy eyes of his.

Before I could dish out some food for myself, a maid came out from nowhere and took it from me. After she was done, she stepped aside.

Just then, the rest of the family members joined us. I recognized both the two young men and the two older women who could be their mothers, they were all at my wedding. They also greet Mr Williams who reciprocates. I guess only my husband doesn't greet Mr Williams, he's so arrogant and cocky.

“Eat to your heart content my dear, everything in this house belongs to you from now on," Mr Williams said in a much polite way as he sits beside me in a chair that looks like a king's seat, it's different and looks more delusive from the other chairs.

“You all should sit as well, let's have our breakfast."

“Grandfather, I can't believe you called me home for this. I was busy when you called, I thought it was something urgent not knowing it's all about breakfast," one of the guys that walked in sounded a bit irritated, he has beautiful gray eyes why the other guy who seems a bit younger than the gray-eyed guy has beautiful sky blue-eyes.

I think they are both my husband's brothers and judging from their looks, I think the gray-eyed guy is the oldest though he still appears young but the blue-eyed guy appeared younger, he must be the second grandson and Hannah's fiance. I wonder where their fathers are since I can only see two women who could be the mothers. But aren't there supposed to be three women since there are three grandsons... I believe there is much I should learn about my new family.

“So ludicrous, I had to leave a life storming enjoyment just to come here for breakfast," the blue-eyed guy also sounded agitated.

But nevertheless, they both took their seats as the women who had short blonde hair and shoulder length brown hair respectively had already taken theirs without saying anything.

The way they sound looks like they hardly eat breakfast together. Also, the way they all glare at each other makes me smell hostility in the air, not to forget the look they gave me which made me shudder a little, it looks like they don't like me... Well, I don't need to ask, their behavior at the chapel is enough to tell me. I wonder how my married life is going to be, my husband doesn't love me and his family too.

“I called you all home so we can have a meal as one big family. It's also a way to welcome the new bride who's now part of the family,"Mr Williams speaks up after everyone has settled down except my husband. I can see the disgusting looks on their faces when Mr Williams made that comment.

“I can't believe that we have become so generous to the extent of bringing beggars into our home," the gray-eyed guy sprout out vulgarly while the rest of the family members laugh out mockingly except Hannah who seems a bit offended by his words, also the blue-eyed guy did not laugh but I can feel that he doesn't like me just like the rest of the family, I observed that he's more reserved than others.

I can see how my husband's gaze glares blazingly at the gray-eyed guy. It looks as if my husband doesn't like what he said. I wondered why he's offended by his words, isn't that what he also thinks about me. Am just a small street girl that his grandfather forced to marry and he can never love me. I just don't understand, he was also angry at Melinda a while ago because of how she talked to me.

“Watch your mouth Kevin!" Mr Williams snapped and that got me out of my thoughts. “Constance is now a member of our family, she's the daughter in-law of this family and everyone must accept that and give her the respect she deserves."

Mr Williams' words only got a scoff from the gray-eyed man.

“Wait Jace," Mr Williams called on my husband who turned to leave the dining room, he looked as if he's trying to control his anger. “I didn't call you home for nothing, I want us all to have breakfast as one big family."

“But I am not interested, I still have lots of things to do," his voice is so cold. I can't believe he also used that tone on his grandfather.

“He's so full of himself, we are here to welcome his new bride but he's acting all rude." The gray eyes guy who I just learned his name to be Kevin made sure his voice sounds vile as ever. I can feel the hatred in his voice as he speaks, a hatred that's probably for my husband. He's just like Melinda, trying so hard to piss someone off.

My husband glared sullenly at him but didn't utter a word, his deadly stare is more than thousands of words. Still again he turns to leave but Mr Williams voice stops him again.

“If you can't eat with us, then accept my wedding gift to you," Mr Williams said and stood from his seat, he gently walked up to my husband instead of him being the one to walk up to Mr Williams and take the gift. I can't imagine how rude this husband of mine is.

“I've already made a reservation at the best resort for your honeymoon," Mr Williams said. Guess is not a physical gift.

But wait! Did he just say honeymoon? I don't know why I blushed hearing that word but I don't think my husband is going to accept this gift. But to my surprise he did.

“Is not like I have a choice, you have already made all decisions about my life, I accept your gift" he said grumpily before walking out.

“Honeymoon, honeymoon, when the girl is not accepted, I wonder what the honeymoon will look like," that's Melinda's insensitive voice. This made others laugh and yet again, except Hannah and the blue-eyed guy.

The woman with short blonde hair was about to say something I know won't be nice but fortunately grandfather joined us once again. I wonder what my life will be in this family when they all hate me.

“Melinda," Mr Williams called on Melinda who quickly replied.

“You must learn to be nice to Constance, show her respect." he said to the others.“And that also implies to all of you."

I can see the bitter and angry look on Melinda when Mr Williams said that but she couldn't utter a word... eventually she respected her grandfather in-law. Not just Melinda, others are not pleased with Mr. Williams words. Hannah is the only one that has a smile on her face. I think Hannah likes me and will treat me good just like Mr. Williams. I believe her love and Mr. Williams' love will be enough for me in this family.

With a sour face, Kevin said, “I will never accept her as the daughter in-law of the great Williams. Grandfather, you insulted our pride by making a street girl be part of our family."

“Father, Kevin is right. This is a very big eyesore. You know our status, what will people think when they find out that the new daughter-in-law of the Williams is nothing but a filthy street girl." the older woman with short blonde hair supported Kevin.

“Even though I don't like these two, I still support their words." the other older woman with brown, shoulder length hair cuts in sarcastically.

“Anyone that doesn't feel okay with Constance becoming the new daughter-in-law of this family, is free to walk out from that door and never return." Mr. Williams' voice is lace with so much authority as the supreme head of the family. And they all held an astound and enraged look when he let off those words, it seems they never thought he could say something like that.
