Chapter 7

Sandra

I found it hard to sleep without at least resolving things with Peter. We have always been close friends. I wondered what was happening to us. I didn't like how bad things were becoming.  Our friendship was on rocky ice. It was unstable. I wondered if Jake was the culprit. But then again, how could he? He had been so kind to the both us. That he would even suggest that the three of us go and watch Hayden together. It just didnt make any sense. So if Jake wasn't the problem then who was? I wondered.  Suddenly, I received a call. The number was blank. Out if curiousity. I decided to answer it.

"Jake is not a good boy, he's an animal. He can be slaughtered easily, but we live forever."  Said a voice, it sounded machine operated.

I was shocked. I felt the need to contact the snob, can you imagine? I was surprised because he actually answered.

"Sandra, is that you?".

I felt slightly irritable

"Its a ghost from another planet." I teased..

Jake did not laugh but was silent. I could hear other voices behind him.

"Sandra, right now it's not a good time. I need to be somewhere." He said.

I was slightly disappointed. I looked at the time. It was 10:15 pm. I concluded that he was probably going to a party. I regretted calling him.

"But we can talk for a few minutes. Tell me what's bothering you."

"I just received a call on my phone. Someone told me you'll be slaughtered!" I blurted out, trembling.

"Send me that person's number. I'll have someone track it." Jake replied.

"The number's are blank. And the voice is machine operated."

I tried to explain.

"Do you have a clue at least as to who would say something this insensitive?" I asked.

Jake breathed exhaled heavily.

"It might be the Finley sister's. Their probably angry because of the number I pulled on them the other day."

The Finley's? Well it couldn't be.

"But that was ages ago."

"Bullies don't like to be bullied back, I guess."

"Then we should report them to the police, this is going too far." I suggested.

"The police are corrupt. I'll handle this matter."

What does that even mean? I felt worried.

"Okay fine. But be careful."

"I always am. Sleep well."

I smiled.

"Sleep well as too."

When the call had ended, I switched off the lights and slept so peaceful without any disturbance. It was the kind of sleep I had been yearning for hours for.

At the Winslow Estates.

Jess

I was testing some of the spell's from a red book, called the gates of hell.

"Be very careful with that. If you fail to do the spell three times in a row, it will burn your hands." Mavis warned.

Her concern for me felt incredibly funny and so I giggled.

"Is that why I see you wearing heat resistant gloves each time you come to the library?" I teased..

"Keep doing such jokes and you will truly burn yourself.".

"This book is very good." I commented.

The cover was thick, was it look so ancient with its gold coloured decorated font.

"I think you mean dangerous and lovely?" Mavis replied

I laughed hilariously.

"I think hot would best describe it."

"My deceased mother in law, gave me that book as a wedding present. She was so proud when I used a spell from that book."

I was in awe.. Why was it the first time I was hearing this? I wondered.

"Which spell was it?"

"It was the spell of rotting flesh. The words when recited over and over again on your victim would turn their human flesh into melting plastic, accompanied by an awful rotting smell. I used it on a certain man and it worked. He smelled awful that eventually his wife left him." Mavis explained.

I giggled.

"I am going to try it."

The expression on my mother's face changed. Her face hardened.

"No! That spell is very dangerous. You can only do it once, when you do it twice you will lose someone you love." She pressed.

I was annoyed

"Dad is still here. You didn't lose him. Which means you did it once."

"No my dear, I did it twice and I lost the woman I loved, your grandmother."

"Then I'll use it on one who truly deserves it. Jake must die."

All of a sudden, my father ran into us. He was in panic..

"George, what's going on?" Mavis asked.

My father was breathing heavily. His speech was distorted.

"I saw them.. they are here.." he said, with a trembling voice.

I was starting to be fired up. It had been long since I hadn't used my magic I was ready to blast someone into pieces.

"Whose here?" I asked, my voice, completely fearless unlike my weak father.

Werewolves out of nowhere charged into the house.  Windows cracked opened. Doors slammed into the ground. Fury was building within me. I wanted blood. I stood by with my family, all of us channeling our powers. I saw the enemy come forward as his pack stood behind him, waiting for a battle to begin.

"Remember me?  I'm the one who put you in that little accident." Paul said, with a smirk.

My father flew to him and stood too close to him.

"How dare you? Leave this house if you value your lives." He said.

Paul chuckled.

"I did not come here to fight, I came here to send a message. Stay away from Peter. He's not your toy, and if you do any magic on him. The pack and I will come and begin that battle." He said.

I was shocked. Who could've told them about Peter and I and only one name came about.

"Sandra sent you here didn't she?" I asked

"I hope my message to you was clear. Stay away from Peter or die!"

Paul and the other werewolves immediately left.

I was furious.
