Chapter 3: New Opportunity?

"And I'm Stella Clinton, you can call me Stella." She said

"Your name is Stella? What a nice name." Lucas Benjamin said.

When he finished listening, Mrs. Caroline did not seem to notice any abnormalities in her son. But there is one thing that makes her a little confused, that when faced with these things, her son will often refuse and often let her come out to solve it. However, today he did everything for her.

But when she looked at the expression on Lucas's face, Mrs. Caroline couldn't guess what was going on. It's just, it seems in the face of Stella. Her son didn't have the slightest bit of animosity.

"My name is Stella Clinton." She replied.

“May I call you Stella? Your name is beautiful.” Mrs. Caroline asked.

"Of course." Stella replied.

Mrs. Caroline and Stella talked like that. Until a moment, when Stella glanced at her watch and saw that it seemed to be late. Then she said goodbye to them and left, but of course because she wanted Stella to be her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Caroline asked:

“Stella, do you have a boyfriend or not?”

When she heard this question from Mrs. Caroline, it seemed that for a moment both Lucas and Stella were a little stunned. Because, usually, this is a person's private matter. Usually very few people ask.

But even so, Lucas and Caroline both wanted to hear from Stella. But for Stella, this was the thing she didn't want to talk about the most. Because it's not fun at all.

“Yes, I and my boyfriend are getting married…” Stella paused.

Hearing this, Mrs. Caroline seemed to be a little disappointed as well. Because Stella is such a nice person, if her son had known her sooner, perhaps they could be together now. It's just a pity that they met late. She thought for a moment and sighed softly.

“But… I and my family have stopped the marriage, because he betrayed me. So, I can't lose my future because of someone like that." Stella said.

When Mrs. Caroline heard the whole story, she felt very lucky because her son still had a chance. But she knew she couldn't pretend to be happy about this either. Because Stella is a good girl after all. However, she was betrayed by the person she loved.

Stella nodded slightly and smiled at her. After all, she is a woman who always looks to the future and better things. So she won't let anything from her past stop her.

“Thank you, but I think about such things. I shouldn't worry too much and right now I just want to continue to develop my career." She said.

“That's fine, but if you run into any trouble. You can also come find us.” After Lucas's mother finished speaking, she motioned for Lucas to see Stella off for him.

Then, Stella didn't want to bother them any more. So she called Lucas back. Back in the hospital room, Lucas continued to care for his mother.

“Lucas, are you having a crush on Stella? This is the first time I've seen you interact with a girl like that." Mrs. Caroline said.

"Don't think too much, I've only just met her right now." Lucas told his mother, but he didn't answer the other question. This helped Caroline make sure her son was interested in Stella.
