When I got home that night, I had high expectations that I would find Nancy there waiting for me, as had happened on the days we were together. As soon as I entered the house with a bouquet of red chocolate roses in my hands, I called out to her.

“Honey, I'm here,” I said out loud, expecting her to come to me and give me that hug as good as the one she usually gives me, but this time I got silence in response. “Babe? Where are you?" I called once again, entering the apartment with caution and fear. Of course, I was scared that my biggest fear of these last few days would happen.

My relationship with Nancy hadn't been easy from the beginning; she had been hurt a lot in her old relationship, which ended up leaving her vulnerable and with low self-esteem, enough to be suspicious of anything and never really give in.
