Five years of torment

"Mr. Miller, what are you saying? Couples!"

"Derik, what is going on?" Rebecca asked, her brows furrowed.

"You heard me right! Come here, Charlotte!" he said, walking closer to her while she was standing in a daze. "Have a seat and stop being shy. After all, my siblings here will soon be your family when we get married."

"Mar..." Charlotte wanted to utter, but Derik instantly interrupted with a clearing of his throat. "Ahem!"

"Brother, when did you and Miss Charlotte become a couple?" he asked, really confused.

"Oh, Vincent, it has been for a while now, but Charlotte here wanted to keep it a secret."

"Really!" he leaped up. "You guys are... couples?"

He went over to Vincent while patting his shoulder. "We are really in love with each other, as you can see."

Meanwhile, Charlotte was totally confused. The Miller's brother was killed at the hands of the Lockwoods? How could that be? What happened? Is that why they have hated each other for years?
