Chapter 4

The next day Sadie woke up from her sleep like every other day, her hair still messy when she came out of her room and was surprised to see Hunter already at the dining table with her grandmother.

Sadie, who was aware of her appearance, immediately returned to her room and stood in front of the mirror to straighten her hair and pajamas.

“Aish, why is that man still here? Didn't I warn him to leave before Grandma woke up, instead he was at the dining table with her," Sadie muttered before leaving her room.

“Morning Sadie,” Mia said.

"Morning Grandma, and why are you still here?" Sadie said.

"Sit down and drink your coffee first, you have to have breakfast before you're late for work, I warmed up the turkey last night," Mia said and handed Sadie the coffee cup.

“Your grandmother told me not to go,” Hunter said.

“Why did you stop him from going?” Sadie said.

“Why did you bring him back here?” Mia said and Sadie looked upset and regretful of her actions.

"It's okay, as I promised, I'll leave after breakfast, and thank you for letting me stay here," Hunter said.

“Oh, do you want to go? Finish your breakfast first," Mia said.

"Thanks, grandma, but I have to go, I'll bring you something on the weekend," Hunter said and got up from his chair, he didn't say anything to Sadie and just walked past her.

Sadie sat in her chair and looked at her grandmother with many questions in her eyes.

“What did you talk to him about? Why did he say he would bring you something on the weekend? Why would he want to come back here?” Sadie said.

“Isn't he a nice guy? He helped me make breakfast and asked what my favorite food was, that's all we talked about before you came out looking a mess," Mia said.

"Yes, because I thought he was gone, I asked him to leave before you woke up, I helped him and let him stay here because it was stormy last night, I saw him getting wet outside, so I asked him to come in, I didn't have any other intention other than wanting to help him, but still he’s strangers so he shouldn't talk to you as if you two were already close," Sadie said.

"Are you jealous?" Mia said.

“Why should I be jealous of strangers?” Sadie said.

“Okay, okay, eat your breakfast and get ready for work,” Mia said.

After getting ready, Sadie left her house to work. She tried to forget about what happened last night and just wanted to focus on her work.

When Sadie arrived at work, she saw Piper who had just arrived and got out of her car. Sadie immediately approached her.

“Morning Mrs. Piper, let me help you," Sadie said and immediately helped Piper carry the flowers her boss had just bought.

“Morning Sadie, how about the Turkey? Did you and your grandmother like it? Tell me how it tastes?” Piper said.

“That was delicious Mrs. Piper, my grandma liked it because the turkey was too big, I had to eat it again for breakfast, thank you," Sadie said.

"Oh really? Thank goodness if you and your grandma like it," Piper said.

They were busy arranging the new flowers in pots to be placed in the cooler and putting the old flowers outside for sale.

"Sadie, I'm going on holiday with my daughter next week, I'm closing the shop temporarily, so you can take the day off and look after your grandmother, don't worry, I won't cut your pay," Piper said.

“Oh, okay Mrs. Piper," Sadie said and she quickly changed out of her uniform and got to work, replacing the sign on the door to indicate the shop was open.

That morning was sunny as usual, even though it rained last night, the sky that morning was very blue and clean, the roads were still a little wet but the air felt cool.

The sound of the bell at the door sounded indicating the first customer had arrived, Sadie greeted him in a friendly manner, but the man who came in a black coat looked serious enough to make the beautiful smile on Sadie's face fade.

“Is there anything I can help you with, sir? What flowers do you want to buy?” Sadie said.

“Call the flower shop owner, now,” The man said.

"Oh, but sir—"

"Dad?" Piper's voice came from the other side, making Sadie and the man look in the same direction at the same time.

“Piper,” The man said and Sadie looked back at him.

“Dad, what are you doing here? Come with me, and Sadie please look after the shop for a while while I'm not here, okay?” Piper said and immediately took the father out, leaving Sadie speechless.

"Dad, what are you doing here?" Piper said.

"What do you mean? And how many times have I told you to go back to your home, where you belong, why are you keeping that stupid Alpha? He's useless and just busy with lots of bitches in the bar, leave him," the man said, his name was David.

"Dad, don't say that about my husband, I'll stay here, this is my family, this is where I'm supposed to be," Piper said.

"You're just like your mother, a Beta like you should be able to get a better Alpha than him, he made my daughter feel like this, he abandoned you and your child Piper, open your eyes!" David said.

“Enough Dad! I know the reason you came here, but I also know the reason why Hunter always avoids you, you are still the same as before Mom died, and she was also a Beta, and she should have been better than you, please, let me live in peace with my family, and Don't say bad things about my Alpha," Piper said and just left her father to go back to her flower shop.

Sadie saw Piper's changed face after returning to the store and looked out the window to see the man driving away in his luxury car.

Without knowing what happened, Sadie felt that something was wrong with Piper's family, it could be seen in the strange behavior of her younger brother, Hunter, and the arrival of her father, which Piper didn't seem to want.

Elsewhere, the phone ringing shocked Hunter, who was still asleep in his apartment. He was very tired because yesterday was a hard day for him.

He had to change the lock on the door so that his father and his men couldn't come there freely.

The phone didn't stop ringing, Hunter just stretched out his hand to find where the phone was and picked up the phone without looking at who was calling him. Hunter even still had his eyes closed at that time.

"Hello?" Hunter said.

"You'd better go to your father, and solve your problems yourself so he doesn't try to interfere with my family," Piper said.

"Ah did he come to you?" Hunter said, he opened his eyes and got up to sit on his bed.

“Yeah, he's talking some shit,” Piper said.

"Did he talk about your husband?" Hunter said.

"Go see him and finish your own business, don't come to me until your problem is finished," Piper said and hung up the phone.

"Aish, Beta is different, it's no wonder her husband chose another girl," Hunter said and put his phone on the bed.

He walked to the window to see the conditions outside, and then he remembered something that happened at Sadie's house that morning.

"Who is that girl?" Hunter said.

"Here, this is all I have, maybe this will fit you well, and here's a blanket and pillow for you, the blanket might not be too thick and you'll still be cold but you can keep yourself close to a candle or

Think of your way to stay warm, I'm going to sleep now, don't forget, you have to go before my grandma wakes up tomorrow morning," Sadie said and she immediately went into her room without waiting for Hunter's answer.

Hunter changed his wet clothes before lying on the couch with the thin blanket that Sadie gave him.

He just wanted to close his eyes, but something bothered Hunter, he opened his eyes and sniffed the blanket.

“This scent? Is this her? But how is that possible? I don't feel anything when I'm around her,” Hunter muttered.
