•4•Potential Masked Man

EVA'S POV

“Is there a problem?” One of the other three guys asked me, making me realize that I'd been staring at my 'potential' masked man like a dog without a word.

“Yes, there is a problem.” I managed to say, still staring into the eyes of the 'potential' masked man. “Some people have been standing in the queue for almost an hour. You can't just bypass them and enter.”

“We can't?” The 'potential' masked man chuckled, his voice rich and warm and so damn familiar. “That's exactly what we're going to do.”

He took a step closer to me, making my breath hitch as he leaned down and spoke. “What are you going to do about it, sweetheart?”

I bristled at his audacity. If there was one thing I hated, then it was people taking advantage of their status or whatever to get what they want at the expense of others. This man was doing exactly that without any remorse.

“Adam, just ignore her and let's go.” Another one of his friends, a chocolate-skinned one, said impatiently.

Adam.

So that was his name.

Adam nodded at his friend before stepping back. Then he turned towards the bouncer and gave him something I couldn't see. Just like that, the bouncer removed the barrier to allow him and his friends entry.

“They're with us.” Adam pointed at me and my friends before he and his three friends headed inside the club.

I could only glare at his back as my anger increased. So he thought that I confronted him just because I wanted a quick pass into the nightclub?

The arrogant bastard.

I wanted to call him back and tell him to shove his quick pass where the sun doesn't shine, but the idea of going back to freeze my ass off in the queue wasn't very appealing. I didn't protest when Vicky and June squealed and practically dragged me into the club.

“Oh, Queen Eva. You saved us!” Vicky gave me a slight bow. “We're forever in your debt.”

“How will we ever repay you?” June added dramatically.

I rolled my eyes at them and continued glaring at Adam and his friends as they headed upstairs to the VIP booths.

There's no way he is the masked man. I don't even want him to be the masked man anymore.

Besides, why did I even think it was him simply because of his eyes? There are billions of men with brown eyes.

Deciding to stop thinking about him, I looked around me. As expected, the club was packed and extremely rowdy. I wanted to sit after standing in the queue for so long, but there was no chair in sight that wasn't taken.

“Let's go for some drinks." June suggested, and we all headed towards the bar.

After having to wait for a while there too, we finally received our drinks. Two rounds of martinis later, the girls dragged me onto the dancefloor.

'Bad Guy' by Billie Eillish began playing. I loved that song, so it drew me into the dance immediately. We sang the song as we shook our bodies to its catchy beat.

'...I'm the bad type

Make your mama sad time

Make your girlfriend mad type

Might seduce your dad type

I'm a bad guy

Duh…'

We continued singing and dancing through several other songs. June and Vicky were entertaining a lot of guys who were flirting with them. I was so immersed in the dance that I didn't realize that both of them had wandered off to a different part of the dancefloor with some guys that had been hitting on them earlier.

I rolled my eyes. Typical June and Vicky. Always leaving me alone for their sexual escapades. I continued to dance without them.

A lot of guys approached me, and while I danced with them, I made sure they knew there was a limit, and a lot of them respected that.

Everything was going well until a certain guy I'd never met before decided that he'd forgotten the meaning of 'no' while we were dancing.

“You're so gorgeous, you know that?” He said, and without asking for my permission, he just grabbed me by the ass and pulled me flush against his body.

I stiffened. “Let go of me.”

“Oh, come on, baby.” He laughed. “Don't play hard to get. Let's go to my apartment.”

I could tell that he was drunk, but that wasn't an excuse.

“No, thank you." I smiled tightly at him as I tried to pull his hands off my butt.

“I know you find me hot." He asserted confidently. “You're probably creaming your panties just at the thought of me fucking you. I can show you a really good time if you come with me. Or maybe, we can go to your place if that's what you prefer.”

Okay, I've just about had enough of this shit.

“I already said no, dude. The fact that I danced with you for five minutes doesn't mean I want to fuck you." I scoffed. “And free advice; if you keep on using this approach on women, you're never going to get laid. It's a complete turn-off.”

With that, I braced my hands on his chest and shoved him away. He stumbled back and finally let go of me. Without waiting for his reaction, I turned and made my way off the dancefloor. That guy had ruined the mood I was in for dancing.

I headed towards the bar to get another martini. Just as I finished with the drink and was leaving the bar, a hand suddenly grabbed me by the arm.

Startled, I gasped and turned to find the same guy who'd grabbed my ass without my consent.

“Why are you playing hard to get? You won't take my dick for free. Is that it?" He asked. “Okay, tell me how much you charge for a night.”

Wow, this guy's desperation is on a whole different level.

“As generous as your offer is, I'm going to have to ask you to shove your money up your stupid ass and let go of me this instant.” I hissed.

I tried to free my arm from the pervert's hold once again, but he still wasn't having it. I didn't want to create a scene, but if this guy didn't let me go, I wasn't beyond backhanding him in the face and kicking him in the balls just to show him to respect women.

Luckily, I didn't have to do any of that. Before I knew what was happening, the pervert let out a yell and instantly let go of me. I frowned, wondering what was happening.

I could see that he was trying to turn, but a strong-looking hand on his nape was preventing him from doing so much as moving his head.

The owner of the hand finally stepped around him. It was Adam, his eyes cold as he stared at the guy and said, “When a woman says no, she means no. Now if you dare lay another finger on her, I swear no one is going to hold me accountable for what I'm going to do to you.”

The pervert looked like he wanted to say something scathing to Adam, but one look at Adam's superior size had him thinking again. As soon as Adam let go off his neck, he scurried off while muttering curses.

After the pervert had left, Adam stood in front of me, obviously expecting me to say something.

“You didn't have to do that. I could've handled him on my own.” I said.

Adam stared at me in surprise for a bit before his lips stretched into a dazzling grin that nearly melted my panties off.

“Thank you is just a two-word phrase, you know?" He said, amusement dancing in his eyes.

I rolled my eyes, looking away from him, but my whole body heightened in awareness as soon as he closed the distance between us.

“Let me buy you a drink."

I crossed my hands on my chest, afraid that he'll see my suddenly hard nipples through my top. “I can buy my own drink, thank you very much. Just like I could've waited in the queue without your quick pass.”

A chuckle of disbelief left his lips. “Damn, you really know how to hold a grudge, don't you?”

“No. I just don't like arrogant people.”

He laughed again like I was being funny. “I'm so sorry for using my privilege to get in quicker than others, Sweetheart. But we all can't be saints, can we?”

I made a sound of disinterest and turned away from him. Having him in front of me and so close was doing things to my heart that I didn't even understand.

While I pretended like I was waiting for the people at the bar counter to leave so that I could order another drink, I noticed him still standing there from the corner of my eye. He was staring at me, so intently it made the room suddenly feel much hotter than it was a second ago.

I finally turned towards him, unable to stand it anymore. “It's rude to stare, you know?"

He flashed me another dazzling smile. “What can I say? Let's just say I have a thing for appreciating nature's most fine works.”

I scoffed. “Is that how you woo all the women you take to your bed?”

“Well, I don't usually have to do the wooing.” He declared, insinuating that women were the ones who usually approached him.

I didn't doubt that for a bit.

“Only for them to get their hearts broken." I said.

“Oh, you wound my poor heart." He placed his hand over his chest dramatically. I rolled my eyes, and he chuckled.

“On a more serious note, it's not my fault that some women get heartbroken after being with me." He said.

“How is it not your fault when you're the one doing the heartbreak?”

“Would you like to come with me to my VIP floor? It's much quieter there.” He said instead of answering.

The look in his eyes was all too heated, and I should've probably said no, but I found myself nodding instead.

A thrill went through my body as he placed his hand on the small of my back and began leading me away. I looked around with my eyes for June and Vicky.

I didn't see Vicky, but I saw June heavily making out with one of Adam's friends, the chocolate-skinned one. And when I say heavy make-out, I mean heavy. They looked like they wanted to chew each other's tongues.

Shaking my head, I focused on Adam as he led me upstairs and to his VIP booth. It was truly much quiet there with only a few people.

“So to answer your question...” Adam began once we got there, turning to face me. “I never take a woman to bed without letting her know up front that I'm only looking for fun. If they catch feelings and end up heartbroken, that's not exactly my fault, is it?”

“So that's all you're into? One night stands and no-strings-attached relationships?”

“Packaged with lots of mind-blowing sex.”

His suggestive tone had me clenching my thighs even before he leaned closer and said, “So on a scale of one to ten, what's the chances of you going home with me so I can blow your mind?”

Despite my quickening breath, I shook my head. “Zero.”

“Zero?”

“Yeah. I don't do meaningless sex. I only sleep with people who actually mean something to me.” I answered

Despite my confident answer, my breath hitched as his gaze traveled from my eyes to my lips. I instinctively licked my lips, watching his gaze darken as he looked back into my eyes.

“Are you sure I can't change your mind?”

I didn't answer, my heart beating wildly inside my chest as we continued staring at each other for what felt like forever.

“You look familiar." He finally said, sounding as breathless as I felt.

My heart rate increased as I said, “You look familiar too."

I scanned his face, from his manly nose to his dark eyebrows to his sharp jawline. Finally, my eyes widened in shock.

“Oh my God. It's you!”
