•6• How Can I Resist Him

EVA'S POV

I think I'm going crazy.

No, I don't think so. I AM going crazy.

Otherwise, why would I be following a stranger to the middle of nowhere to do extreme sports for five days?

It doesn't matter that Adam Garcia is a celebrity. He has made it abundantly clear to me that he wants to sleep with me, and for all I know, he only wants to take me to his cabin in Jackson Hole to turn me into a sex slave.

And yet here I am, driving behind him in my rented Subaru. For some reason, I feel like I can completely trust him.

Deep down, I knew I'd always wanted to try extreme sports. Talking with Adam is what finally made me realize it. That was why I finally decided to set my fears aside and come have this adventure.

But now that I'm here, looking out through my window at the huge mountains, I'm just on the verge of turning and driving the hell out of here.

Adam took a bend in his car, and I followed the same direction to find his car parked in front of a cozy-looking cabin. I stopped my car beside his and dragged in a deep breath, unable to believe I was really about to do this.

You can do this, Eva. The fear is all in your head.

I had to smile at the fact that I was repeating Adam's words until a light knock on my driver's window drew my attention. I looked at Adam who gestured in a 'what's up' manner.

I opened my door and got down, and before I could head over and grab my duffel bag containing a week's worth of clothes, Adam had already opened the backseat door and pulled it out.

"You didn't have to do that." I grimaced at him over the roof of my car.

"Ah, just say thank you." He said cockily, and we began to stroll towards his place.

Located in the heart of Jackson Hole and surrounded by hills, craggy rocks, and gargantuan trees with a cold breeze whistling by, the birds singing melodiously, and water rushing through the creek that run alongside the structure, it was a cabin through and through.

Adam stopped beside me when we stopped in front of the stairs leading up to the porch. "What do you think?"

"I think I should probably grab my bag from you and race out of here." I shuddered as I thought of the crazy Mount climbing videos I'd watched.

"I knew it! That's exactly why you wanted us to get two cars instead of one. So that you can run away anytime you want."

"Of course not!" I shrieked, feeling like a deer caught in the headlight.

"Scaredy cat." His voice was filled with a teasing rumble I found all too alluring as he lead the way up the stairs.

"This place is beautiful." I breathed in the crisp, cool mountainside air and soaked in the breeze.

"Welcome to my paradise."

The cabin was painted an off-white color. The stairs and the floors of the porch were made from polished wood, and a white wooden railing barricaded the porch. A large net swing dangled, secured to the thick porch posts.

The state of the wood and the whole structure of the place made it obvious it wasn't ancient.

He gave me a sidelong glance as he rummaged through the pocket of the thermal jacket he was wearing. Jackson Hole was in its last month of snowfall so the weather was cold as fuck. But apparently, Adam didn't feel it because the jacket he was wearing was too light.

"Just in case you are wondering, I had this place built five years ago."

"Why in such a secluded place though?" I asked.

He looked around him and let out a sigh of bliss. "This place just offers so much peace, not to talk of the easy access to outdoor activities. I love to hide here when I need to rejuvenate my spirit, especially when emotions get..."

At his pause, I glanced at him, just in time to catch a glimpse of his stunned look just before he slipped on an impassive mask, dropping some kind of invisible shield between us.

What the hell was that?

Before I could ask him, he strolled towards the cabin door, a bunch of keys in his hand.

His backside view had my swallowing a breath. Just like that, my need to question why he'd suddenly stopped his statement backfired, and I leaned against the wooden railing, shamefully admiring him.

Even though he was dressed in a somewhat thick top, it did nothing to hide the emphasis on his bulging muscles. I'd seen several pictures and videos of him shirtless and God was he sexy!

An outdoor man through and through, he had a body sculpted from years of strenuous exercises and his business which catered to extreme sports and outdoor activities.

An olive skin tanned from a lot of time being under the sun. He was a risk-taker who was tempting me to take a walk on the wild side with him.

But could I?

After opening the door, Adam grabbed the luggage and the grocery bags he'd set down, and without giving me a chance to help, stepped inside the cabin.

I trailed behind him into the space just as he found the switch on the wall. Bright light flooded the room, displaying quite an impressive view.

There was a kitchen to my right. A corridor led to the living room from the other end, hosting three rooms, one on the right wing and two on the left, one of which I assumed was the bathroom.

For an unknown reason, I expected an austere decor, but I was glad to find the place, though small, tastefully decorated in oak, off-white tones, and Spanish-style sculptures.

Two plush cream-colored sofas adorned the living room to whose left a fireplace was set, and the floor was carpeted in a beautiful blue plaited Persian rug.

"Nice place." I commented.

"Just tell me I have great taste."

"Do you always have to be so cocky?" I asked him as he set the stuff in the middle of the living room. "You're the only one who comes here?"

"Mostly. But sometimes my friends come here, and also my brother."

"Your brother does extreme sports too?" I asked as I moved further into the room.

"Who? The better-safe-than-sorry?" He chuckled, looking back at me, and his eyes lighted up with warmth, seemingly at the thought of his brother.

"He'd rather be on a yacht cruising with his girlfriend. But don't worry. I'm grooming him into becoming more adventurous."

I snorted in mock distaste. "I think I should rather be worried that you are grooming him."

He chuckled again, swiveling to fully face me. "Can you help me here, stock the perishables in the fridge while I go back to my car to get my camera equipment?" He jutted his chin towards the kitchen.

"You brought them?"

"Yep." He nodded, biting his lips, something I found too damn fascinating, like all the other things about this man. "Been a while since I last took pictures of mother nature, especially when I have a sexy woman as company."

He winked at me before walking past me while I just stood there, thinking about what he said. That means I'm not the first woman he's offered to teach extreme sports to.

The thought stung me for some reason, but what the hell was I expecting?

With a frown on my face, I grabbed the bag of groceries and proceeded to the kitchen to do as he asked.

The fridge was divided into two parts, and I began stocking the top part with canned, bottled, and rubber-wrapped perishables before filling the lower part with food commodities: vegetables, fruits, meat, and the like.

I suddenly had an intuition that someone was behind me and quickly spun around. My heart sagged back into my ribcage when I realized it was Adam.

"I can see you also have a tendency to startle people." I said, glaring at him.

Done putting everything inside the fridge, I grabbed a bottle of orange juice and closed the fridge.

"No, just those who get easily scared at everything." He was leaning on the doorframe, hands tucked into his pants pocket.

Rolling my eyes, I twisted off the cap of the bottle and drank my fill of the delectable juice to soothe my parched throat.

He reached for the bottle just when I was going to put the rest in the fridge, and then proceeded to chuck down the rest.

His adam's apple bobbed so enticingly, and my lips itched to bite it.

"So what adventures are we going to be doing here?" I asked him after he'd set the bottle aside.

"Believe me, we are going to be doing a lot of things together." His gaze streaked across my body, making it obvious that he wasn't only talking about extreme sports.

Despite my hardening nipples and quickening breath, I managed a short laugh. “I already told you that you and I won't be fucking. I'm just here so you can teach me extreme sports.”

He cocked his head teasingly as he stepped towards me. “What? Afraid that you won't be able to resist falling in love with me?”

“I will have you know that I'm very good at controlling my emotions.” I answered, meeting his eyes. “Just as I'm good at resisting your charms.”

“Are you?” He asked in a deep, sexy voice that sent a shiver through me.

Then he leaned forward, coming so close that I could feel his breath on my face. I closed my eyes, my lips automatically parting in wait for his kiss.

“Let's see how long you can resist my charms.”

I opened my eyes when I heard footsteps, only to find him standing at the kitchen doorway smirking at me while I had been expecting him to kiss me.

Fuck, just the sight of him sets my whole body on fire. How am I going to live with him under the same roof for five days without wanting him to touch me?

I have to do my best to resist him. Lord knows I can't have a relationship with him or any other man for that matter.

I just CAN'T.
