An unknown text

Freda POV’s

I slowly opened my eyes and blinked, disoriented by the bright sunlight streaming through the window. I sat up and looked around, the room was unfamiliar, and I couldn't remember how she had gotten there, not until I saw my undies on the floor, with my clothes scattered all around.

I sighed realizing I was naked, and that was how the event of last night played in my head. I had totally had sex with a stranger.

I gathered the duvet around my body and I tried to stand up but I winced painfully and I fell back on the bed. My virginal area hurt like hell, and my legs felt numb.

It was hell of an experience last night and I enjoyed every bit of it even if he made me cry. It was just so different from the sex I usually had with Jake.

I looked around the room, but he was nowhere to be found. I hurriedly checked the bathroom, the closet, and even under the bed, but he was nowhere to be seen.

I felt a stab of fear in her chest, but I suddenly laughed. What was I expecting? It was just sex. Something meant to be forgotten.

I walked into the bathroom and turned on the light. My hair was a mess, and my makeup was smudged and smeared. I ran the water and splashed my face, trying to wake myself up and feel more human.

[Few minutes later]

I sat down on the bed not knowing what to do. The sound of my phone ringing made me jump in fright, I reached for it and I breathed a sigh of relief when she saw it was Miranda calling. I immediately answered the call.

“Where the hell are you! I’ve been here all night searching for you. Why can’t you just listen to me and let go of that good for nothing Jake!” She yelled angrily and I rolled my eyes.

“Hey, bestie,” I said, a bit rudely.

“You don’t get to dictate my life for me okay? I’ve been too good to an extent that it ruined my relationship. Now I just want to live my life! Can’t you just get that!” I yelled back at her and silence fell between the both of us.

“I’m at the bar, at the counter, come meet me there,” She said and she ended the call.

I sighed as I dragged my lazy ass up and left the room. I also felt bad for talking to Miranda that way. She’s been nothing but kind to me, but here I was venting my anger on her.

Finally I got to the counter and I met her sitting down there alone, wrapping her arms around her body.

“I’m sorry,” I said and she slowly looked up.

“Let’s go home, it’s been a long night. We both need to rest,” She said and she stood up and left while I trailed behind her. I knew she was angry and I had to find a way to apologize.

She boarded a cab and we drove home, but I had this icy feeling that someone was unto us. I noticed a car trailing after us until we got to our destination.

I didn’t know if Miranda didn’t notice because she was angry, but I did and I tried to shake this uneasy feeling out.

“Talk to me, Bestie. Please don’t keep me quiet, I’m sorry,” I said the moment we got into our room and she heaved.

“I’m not angry at you, I’m just mad at myself for caring too much. I mean we're the same age. What gave me the right to act as if I’m older,” She said and I pulled her into my arms.

“To me you’re more than a friend, Miranda. Please don’t push me away. I can’t bear to lose you,” I said and she hugged me back, but she suddenly pulled away.

“Did you get yourself in any mess last night?” She asked and I shook my head, a faint smile on her face.

I was about to tease her when I saw her face then again I decided to come clean.

“Nothing serious, just that I had sex with a stranger,” I replied and she frowned.

“That’s not it, you can choose to have sex with anyone as long as it’s not Jake. But I’m talking about something rather serious,” She said and I furrowed my eyebrows, seeing how serious she was.

“I think we’re in trouble. Someone I’ve been trailing us ever since we left the clubhouse. I thought I was just imagining things not until Tessy texted me that a group of men were asking about you. More like an investigation,” She said and my face dropped.

Tessy is actually our neighbor, and if what she said is the truth. Then I’m in a hot mess.

“An investigation? I mean I’ve done nothing wrong to anyone. Who could have been monitoring me?” I asked and she tap her foot on the floor and her eyes suddenly dimmed.

“How about Jake? He must have been stalking you,” Miranda said and I shook my head.

“Jake wouldn’t do that. He doesn’t have to investigate anything about me when he already knows everything,” I replied and she stared at me worriedly.

“Who could it be?”

“I don’t know!” I hurriedly replied.

“We need to be careful,” Miranda said and she began closing all of the windows and I joined her in doing same.

“We’re going house hunting tomorrow morning Freda, I can’t risk our safety,” She said and I could tell she was panicking.

“It’s all right Miranda, take a deep breathe,” I said and she did as told and I took her to her room, making sure she was put to bed and I went to mine afterwards.

My phone suddenly buzzed , and I looked down to see a text from an unknown number. I opened the message, and my eyes widened in shock as I read the words on the screen.

“I'm watching you, hope you’re ready to meet me soon?” it said, I felt my hands start to shake, and my pulse quickened. I looked around, but I couldn't see anyone nearby.

“Who is this?" I texted back, my fingers trembling as I typed.

“You know who I am, little girl,” Came the reply and I flinched.

“Holy molly!”
