CHAPTER 17

ALLEN

Juleka and I were dressed, as she got herself ready to leave.

I was busy watching her from where I sat on the bed, as she carefully attended to her hair, dressing it properly.

All I could do was sit and stare, thinking about her response to my plans for the both of us.

I should have just waited for the perfect time to share that with her, but now I can't help but feel upset with my move.

I'm just so restless.

Why can't I be patient?

"Can you hear me?"

"Huh?" I uttered, lifting my eyes to look at Juleka.

She was staring at me with worries buried within. Seems she has been calling and I didn't hear her.

"You're lost again. What's wrong?" She asked, drawing closer to me.

"It's nothing," I chuckled.

I wanted to cover it up by claiming it was work stuff clouding my mind, but Juleka wasn't stupid.

She could tell by just looking into my eyes.

"Don't lie to me, Allen. I know it's not about work, " She said.

She sat beside me with her hand taking hold of mine, asking with a dull voice, "
