Chapter 24: Jack's Jazz...Wrong Reason; Right One

Jack found himself struggling with anger management. He feels the fury building inside of him. His fists were balled ready to fight. He keeps looking in the distance, his past unfolding to a very specific moment in time when his father nearly beaten him to death, simply because he looked at him in a wrong way.

He recalls in clarity if it wasn’t for his mother telling him a story, he would have left this world since he was beaten to the brink of death. His mother was a small delicate woman but with a build in iron core, he had learned that day. She made him hold on.

“Jack,” he even hears her voice now clear as day.

“Mom,” he whispered.

“Please hold on son. You have a life to live. Don’t let him defeat you.”

“I can’t …mom, I am tired.”

“I know son. Let me tell you a story. Just listen to my voice and hold on.”

“I love you Mom,”
